I didn't exhaustively scanned each entry, but sampled many (> 15) and one thing that I found to be odd was that all of them were male. I'm not sure if it's cultural but it's quite interesting.

I don’t have any personal objections with how Bezos decides to use his money, but to your point of books — how’s your local library? I recently realized I was spending some non-negligible amount of money on books every month and switched to the local library. It obviously depends on where you live but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It’s a fantastic system of local libraries and they’ve all the titles I want to read. There’s a wait for new titles, like Snowden’s book will need me to wait a couple of months, but anything older than a year is almost always available. As the book loan is for 21 days, it also forces me to finish my reading within this time.

Whenever I tried doing cardio exercises, I remember I would come back from the gym so hungry, I would eat a horse. And, I did. I couldn't stop -- I would eat whatever I could lay my hands on.
A couple of weeks later, my weight had in fact, increased. In my life, I have found I have been able to reduce weight only through two methods:
1. Strength training exercises + Protein (read meat) heavy diet
2. Small amount of vegetarian food three times a day
As per the title, the writer should have shown a "causal" link between the TV sitcom, and the perceived downfall of the Western civilization. Proving causality is hard, but I would have been happy even if the author had shown some level of correlation. Unfortunately, none were to be found.
The Western civilization is not same as United States. It presence is from the Western Europe to far reaching islands of New Zealand.
This is also something of a problem with HN, where such shallow articles sometimes get pushed up to the front page just because the author decides to write a challenging, and overreaching title.
Sorry to be a stickler, but the error handling in your method "frees" a resource even when nothing was allocated to it. Freeing a null pointer is as such an undefined behavior.
That's a fair advice, but I wonder what if we start working on something that at first does not seem like work, but later we realize was merely a hobby? For instance, I enjoy cooking. I love figuring out the recipes of intricate Indian curries, and then I will cook them. I enjoy eating curries even more! :D However, if I was to translate that to a full time job, I would probably hate it. I love my job as a programmer, and cooking just does not have the same breadth of intellectual stimulation, or excitement in it for me.

Agreed! If anything, the law and the enforcement agencies should be questioned on how the accused was let loose if he was guilty of rape earlier. I agree - the front cost is not as high as it used to be. Although, the maintenance cost is probably high which is what I was hinting to in my comment. How has your experience been around upgrades in the last two years? The apps like iMessage check BIOS to ensure that it's apple hardware that they are running on. And between upgrades, those things can potentially change. How many adjustments have you had to make along the way?
After a bit of brain storming between mac and hackintosh, I eventually decided to buy a mac mini 2012. I agree that the site appears very convincing, but I wonder if it's worth putting the effort to build a system that may or may not work 5 years from now.
I took the cheapest mac mini 2012, $499 at BHPhoto, and upgraded the RAM to 16 GB, and HDD to 512 SSD. Couldn't be happier! I can see this device working 5 years from now.
