A professor dating their student is not unprecedented. Abhijit Banerjee married his PhD student Esther Duflo. Both are tenured at MIT and even won Nobel prize in Economics. I'm pretty sure this is not the first time.
Sometimes exceptions in threads of main process fail the threads. That thread could be hanging there but not working. There is no sweet way to get it back working without restarting the server. All of this happens because a dependency library made bad implementations -- hides all these details under the hood, not allowing consumers to modify. What we are doing is printing the whole traceback in the logger. Bad, definitely but yeah.. that's the real world.
And my boss who may have coded seriously a decade ago, codes these days some for-loops, thinks he still got the edge, somehow just believes logging shit is important, but doesn't provide a design guide or monitors, so no one's interested to write meaningful logs because that's fuckin time consuming. And when they are put under fire, logging is the last thing to bother.. so, we have logs here and there just to appease a boss who knows shit
