When you modify a name/avatar on Slack, the change is made globally it affects all previous messages, etc. There are only 4 of us that use Slack, and you can see our user handles on the left under "DIRECT MESSAGES". No one is using the handle 'Elon Musk' or 'Cal Henderson'.
Couldn't agree more. I work on Clyp (formerly Audiour) and I think one of our core differentiators is the time we spend on having a good looking soundwave. This is one of the main reasons we try to put it front and center on the player page.
I find that it's better to work on a project related to something you're passionate about. Otherwise a couple weeks will go by and you'll have a hard time continuing to work on it.

There are a couple things I want to rework before officially releasing it into the wild, but you can start using it now if you're interested.
That's fair criticism - I'm open to the idea of changing the name. However, I'm not too concerned about the legal issues with imgur - I've spoken with Alan (the creator/CEO) in person and directly told him I would change the name - he said not to worry about it. I think the idea that Audiour is coming off as a 'cheap copycat' is a concern though. It's something I'll definitely think about.
I totally agree with your fanrant. I think they did an excellent job paving the way with images, but there are still gaps to be filled with audio, video, etc. I've started working on audiour ('The imgur of audio') in my spare time and there has been a decent amount of traffic. I feel that giving the ability for users to fully participate on a site before they create an account is going to become more popular over time.
I think he has a good point but I don't totally agree. I created http://audiour.com which could be seen as facilitator of /r/Music (or other similar subreddits), but there is no sense of 'community' like there is on /r/Music.
