If we assume that teachers are nearly perfect creatures who (on average) exercise seriously flawed judgement once every ten years, then we should have about 2,000 examples per day. Reading about every uncaught exception is not intellectually stimulating, it's horrendously BORING.

I was quite polite with my discourse until my original account was banned for politely expressing an opinion that didn't jive with some moderators (but that had been moderated up heavily by the community.)
The reality is this: if you express anti-libertarian sentiment on HN, there's a REALLY good chance you're getting banned, no matter how nice you do it.

Republicans realized that if they continued vilifying the living hell out of anybody who talked about drug law reform, they could continue stripping minorities of their rights.
And because they were good at it, the Democrats can't get elected unless they agree to continue the drug war.
The drug war is a disenfranchisement campaign that happens to line a lot of people's pockets, nothing more.
Then confirmed, I think that's irresponsible and insane.
At some point there will be a serious accident and both the driver and passenger's lives will be ruined, since driving people professionally is disallowed by car insurance policies.
The original Ubercab model (allow anybody to sign up as a driver without any vetting of anything) was absolutely atrocious. The new one is better, but uber drivers benefit from customers who feel like the product is as safe as the regulated product without actually doing things like ensuring that the cars are inspected.
That said, I pretty much lost respect for Uber when they pretended that expressing high-demand rates as a multiple was clear. Nobody with any UX experience would've agreed with them that it was clear... but they all would've agreed that it's a great way to camoflague massively inflated rates.
