Not to discount the benefit of education in promoting economic growth –especially in developing countries, but I don’t think you can say it is the driving force. There are so many other factors.
Particularly for Singapore, its economic growth is probably better attributed to very low tax rates attracting overseas business and investment, low cost foreign workers to exploit due to little to no labour laws, and (unlike most of south-east Asia) extremely low crime and corruption.
An information architect is very similar to a product manager.
They have expertise in information systems, but are essentially performing a product mgr role in being the expert on what you're building, and who you're building it for. In many internet businesses, information is the product.
Info architects also cop the same criticism and praise as product managers. Jack of all trades, master of none. Not a critical hire because their role can be covered by others. But good ones can make a real difference to the process and the final product.
Nice article. The steps are basically how I approach learning a new language, and I imagine it's the same for most people -that is, if they are serious about making the language one of their 'languages of choice'.
And, while I agree video is terrible for learning a language, it can be excellent for abstract CS concepts. For example, an expert explaining the design and analysis of algorithms.
There's definately a market for recieving timely surf reports. But don't expect surfers to post the reports.
As a surfer already at the beach, it's not in your best interest to tell everyone its pumping. You might call your best mate to tell him to get his arse out of bed. But everyone else you'll be gladly informing some time in the future, about the epic uncrowded session you had.
Instead, think of who benefits telling people when there is surf happening right now. The nearest food shop/cafe would do more trade when the surf is on. Local surf shops too. They might post reports.
They're are also likely to splice the report with their own advertising...
We were taught in school that you're supposed to squeeze the tip (of the condom) as you put it on, to allow room for the semen. Apparently this reduces chance of breakage.
I dont see any tip squeezing in this new application method.. thats a worry.
Argh, and I was contemplating applying for a product manager role at google. After reading this i wont be applying anytime soon -it's been over 10 years since I studied data structures and algorithms.
