This is an excellent marketing case study. He found a segment that is passionate about the issue and launched a product, with simple messaging, that he was uniquely positioned to build, that played directly into that passion. All the little touches, like the "I am a human" are perfect to re-enforce his value prop. Boards like this provide him the virality he eneds to get the word out. This is really startup 101 stuff.
Any fund manager who complains about start-up salaries should live by example and not taking the standard 2% management fee. I could easily argue that is demotivating for them.
I actually believe the google+ user count. do a search for cialis, viagra, etc. - it's spam central. but then again so is tumblr, twitter, etc. and no one gives them grief about calling these folks users.
Awesome. I hope the old adage good product wins is really true in the browser world. It was quite a trick to grab market share against IE back in the day, but now they are up against the google cash machine paying Adobe/Avast/ Real/etc. $3/download for chrome. Hard for the little non-profit that could to compete against that. We'll see.
Kind of amusing that this article has such a link baity headline. I was expecting to see more tech blog bashing, which imho is well deserved. Nonetheless, this articles point that you should target journalists in your specific industry, rather than the tech blogs, is sound, but a bit boring.
