Similar experience. I've taken adderral not because it helps me focus, but because it takes some of the anxiety away. I suspect things like Xanax or antidepressants (or modafinil) would achieve the same thing. The crux of the problem is the pressure people feel.

Yeah you're wrong, spatial intellect is not the primary thing that makes Athletes successful. Their greater muscle memory, and the fact that their bodies often do the right physical act without thinking (limbic system). Look up any interview with a great athlete talking about what it's like being in the "zone" while playing. Most athletes constantly reiterate that they don't contemplate every move, their bodies are that advanced.
