"sizeable subset of the population" is a bit of an overstatement. Most people are fine with running Windows or macOS. There's just a vocal minority that wants open source stuff.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if people assume that non-latin languages have all the characters you need to type in that language on a single layout. For English at least, you really only use a single layout.
Having used older Android phones with dying batteries, that's something that will happen. If I was under 30% battery, opening the camera immediately shut off the phone. Same for playing a video or running an intensive app.
Intel's SMM doesn't actually reset the platform after 30 minutes. Intel's ME does if the firmware is missing on ME 11 and above. However, you can still strip the ME heavily and have it "disabled" via the HAP bit.
Do be aware though that I haven't found a generic way to bypass TTL detection, as most solutions use the "mangle" table in iptables, which requires a kernel module on Android. Unfortunately, this is not generic and would be per-kernel.
That's not really true thanks to micrometeors. They'd have it ripped to shreds, and if it was connected to the main habitation units, would remove the air from there too.
Hence why it wasn't proposed to take one reading, but instead one of a known good control substance and one of the test substance. It doesn't matter if it's tuned properly or not, as you aren't looking for a specific frequency, but instead a difference in the two frequencies.
To all the people saying "but waterproof 3.5mm", here's the thing. Despite having _more pins_, lightning and USB-C have the advantage of _active signalling_. So not just an "open/closed" signal, but an active communication saying something was plugged in. So while 3.5mm can be made where it doesn't damage the phone, water will still short the open/closed switch, causing false insertion events.
Imho, it will make a big difference for large apps too, especially on CPU usage. Chromium is what takes up the majority of CPU time, so by reducing it to a very small replacement, it should help.
They didn't exactly fail to learn lessons. They definately did. But it's a learn by experience thing. You can't learn from a mistake you don't know you made. And hackers aren't going to break through the window when the door's unlocked. So until they patch the easy stuff, the hard stuff will never be exploited. Live and learn I guess.
