C++ is perfectly fine for operating systems. Actually its probably better. Here in UFSC(university of santa catarina), LISHA(hardware/software integration lab) has created EPOS, an embedded operating system, that runs on arm, x86, powerPC, Mips. The problem most of the times of using C++ is the lack of software engineering knowledge. EPOS is open source, and its code is actually readable. http://epos.lisha.ufsc.br/ for more information.
what do they mean with: "Add real-time capabilities"?(thats on their homepage) seems like they are saying real-time is the same as fast, and it isn't. I have seen that a lot of times and it's kind of bothering me.
I have i little trouble with this expression:"thinking out of the box". Its not a well defined expression. I don't know exactly how to express it, but it doesn't seems natural. Saying it, seems like they think toootally different from other people. I believe its more about approaching the problem from a lot of perspectives and doing it incessantly.
If you are trying to change the world for no specific reason, you are probably megalomaniac. You have a much better chance to change the world if you are doing something you love rather than actually trying to change the world, plus you got the "bonus" of being happy. I believe you can do something only for money, just don't waste all your life on it.
I hate magic numbers, i believe comments should be made as last resort. The code should be self-documenting. It's about reading and understanding the code easier. One thing that i learned wit CS is that it's all about making higher abstractions, making the logic closer to the domain you are modeling. If there is a word that resumes CS, i would say abstraction. Thats why we have high level languages, OOP, Operating Sytems, folders and files and etc.
"In Brazil we have Colombian drug lords associated with the ruling party."
I'm also from Brasil.
Whhaaat?? from where did you take this man? there is no evidence or anything about that, don't just say things you can't prove. Thats not even on the good media.
