Who You Are
You should have a degree in computer science, something similar or equivalent experience. Strong JavaScript skills are required. Experience with Node.js gets you to the front of the line. It's easy to make things these days, so show us at least one live project.
What You'll Do
Currently, we have our hands in Python, Rails, Node and Docker, amongst other things. You will work on new and existing systems, both open source and proprietary, working up and down the full stack including UI and UX.
1. How do you get 40 million cards in a day from scraping RAM? Wouldn't it be limited to live transactions? 40m seems like a huge number of transactions for one day. An average ticket of $50 would make it a 2 billion dollar day.
2. Why does the card data need to be decrypted on the POS system? Why can't it be sent to a central service and decrypted there and an authorization code is sent back?
The two reasons I've heard are preventing accidental variable assignment and preventing null references. Personally, I don't think either of those things outweigh the readability issue.

We're a funded team of ten in the Nomad area of NYC working on making social media easier for brands and marketers. We're looking for full-time help on the front-end. Some combination of code (HTML, CSS, JS) and visual design is necessary, but the exact ratio is open. Basically, we're looking to hire the most talented person, wherever you may fall on the dev/design spectrum. Back-end chops are a plus but not required.

Hey William, I saw the name "From Holden" and knew right away this must be someone from Holden, Maine. I'm from Brewer and just wanted to say congrats on getting the ball rolling on your new venture. There aren't many people coming out of Central Maine doing this type of thing. Hats off.
The iphone 7 prototype looks like a good start but they can take it much, much farther. A quick calculation: my arm is roughly 34 inches long and an icon row is about 1/2 inch. Factoring in for hardware chrome they could squeeze in maybe 64 rows for a whopping 256 apps on the home screen! There is TONS of room to grow here.
I'm working on an app that incorporates outgoing social media messages. If there is a link in the message I hit it on the backend and send a json list of image urls to the user. The user can then flip through them and decide which image to add to their message.
This is a great reminder that it is important to run experiments to test your hypothesis. It's easy to fall into the simple, simple, simple mindset when designing but sometimes that doesn't drive the most sales. If a more complex design makes more money then that is the "right" design. After all, at the end of the day HubSpot is a business.
Is that new? Back then it was two devs and two traders in a room. See a problem? Press the big red button. Deploy change. Press the big green button. Cowboy style. I STRONGLY recommend against doing it this way. I was young and stupid and I'm pretty sure it took years off my life.
