Excited to post about this, Label Studio – open source data labeling tool we've started working on more than a year ago is hitting v1.0 with a lot of new goodies.
We originally started working on it due to the complexity of bringing ML systems to production. So much depends on data quality, and dataset understanding, but the tooling to help you with that process was just not there. You probably know that first hand if you've worked on production ML systems.
With this release Label Studio gets multi-user labeling. It's important because advanced and accurate supervised ML systems are a product of collaboration between people. Using accounts users can work on the same datasets and each user’s annotations are tied to their account. Using Projects you can streamline managing and work on different datasets, projects as well can be shared with other users. It can be embedded into the ML pipeline for humans in the loop and online learning scenarios. You can use Label Studio for computer vision, NLP, speech processing, time series analysis, and more

Great read. A lot of those problems are real, and some of those I’ve experienced myself. But I think at least some of them are related to the immaturity of the field. We’re only at the beginning of creating the tools and platforms to facilitate DS, making it more reproducible and easier to measure.
For example, I’m working on the tool to make data management easier and convert datasets into a structured representation. If you have experienced that you spend a lot of time on preparing and analyzing data, and it is tedious, please reach out to me michael at heartex.net, would love to get your feedback on the product we have built so far.
Hey there, Michael here, one of the founders. We're building a data management platform for Machine Learning.
As a part of the core engineering team, you'll be working on our open-source data labeling tool https://labelstud.io/ as well as a commercial offering. There is a lot of exciting work! I'd say that this is nowadays a rare position where you'd use and/or learn how to use data structures like trees, queues, and graphs. We're a small team of ML/AI experts, VC-funded, working on a challenging problem, and I welcome you to join the journey!
Our current stack is: React, mobx-state-tree, django, drf
Email me michael @ heartex.net with links, texts, and anything you find worth sharing.
Ctrl+F: We're also hiring for a Marketing position, you're T-shaped, act quick, think fast, and have experience working in competitive markets.
Check out our open-source tool called Label Studio, https://labelstud.io and we have a commercial offering that does exactly this, finetuning the models.
Point taken. To put a bounding box, you need to preselect a label first and then click on the image - that should work fine. If you still have patience with us, please check and let me know how it goes.
Hey, sorry about that. It was not intentional to put an authorization there. We have removed that. You can now click on example links and get the resulting UI.
Late to the party. This article mentions AI based labeling tools and we're building one of them. If you're interested to try it out send me an email mik @ heartex.net
Heh, you probably should put some description on your front page and a video after that description might be nice. I opened an url and immediately closed it because i could not understand anything and don't want to spend time random clicking. You can't do Google style design, no one knows yet what you're after ;) The idea is nice though.
Why do you complain about an individual sharing his thoughts, and not about NYTimes, which is stuffed with advertisement? Or like 90% other hn posts with advertisement on it's pages.
Cool? Yes. But is there anything besides "cool"? Probably not. Seriously, what's the reason to build web ide? The reason for some sort of web word process, i.e. google docs, is clear. But IDE? Thinking about pros of this tool i can only pick three, first one is access from anywhere, which is not that important since most developers can take their laptops and all the tools they need, when they need to. Second one is editing source files simultaneously which is rarely required for programming work. And the third one is an ability to deploy to different servers and architectures, testing you app on lots of different hardware and OSes, which is pretty cool, but it's hardly an ide job. But having only this three cons (name others?) is not a very valuable argument..
Now, even i don't see the point in this things, to get something useful out of it, it should provide two features, first one is extensions language which would be capable of expanding the functionality of ide, only not plugin-like shit, but more as elisp for emacs. And second one is an ability to edit files on some user provided machine, think or slime & swank.
