It really depends on the situation. In a recent endeavor, I took to sites like Quora, Reddit, HN, and I went outside and talked to people on the street.
It's all about asking relevant questions that open ended and not biased. In the recent experience I had validating an idea, I ended up getting great nuggets of information that helped us tailor our app to address the pain points users found in existing products. It's also important to note here that this doesn't mean that you're guaranteed money; all you have done at this point is understand that the issues exist and that you (hopefully) have a solution. The design is clean but think about the message you are sending to visitors of the site. Right now (ignore whatever is in the video. i''m at work and can't watch it and you have to assume there are others that won't watch it as well), you're telling them what the software does, which forces them to see how it fits in to their lives. Tell them exactly how this fits into their life/current practice/problems.
If you know someone who has successfully used this and found it beneficial include a small feature on them. Or do it on multiple people. Visitors will get to see some of its applications and also testimonials are a great way to build trust quickly.
At first I was thought it was similar to TaskRabbit where I could just outsource all the work I don't want for a monthly subscription which I would be okay with (not saying I would use it but it would help some people). Once I realized they actually want me to do my own work I was totally turned off...
