It reminds me how early Wayland compositors barely could ran on bare hardware and worked as X11 clients for testing purposes, hehe (many, like Weston or Cage, still can).
It's much more interesting if ran via an analog loop (at least an AUX cable connecting microphone and headphone jacks, or better an external microphone), it gives interesting noise effects.
AFAIR, I also experimented with recording it and then playing via https://github.com/bodqhrohro/taporwave, but don't remember if it was decoded well as header tones could be corrupted.
I definitely have results of converting raw video to raw audio via ffmpeg and then back, this approach is not sensitive to header pulses (but colour images are borked regardless of the mode).
Hmm, I glanced through the collection of Bach's MIDIs and couldn't spot anything like that. Will listen to it completely, maybe it's in the middle of some symphony.

Nope, though I communicated a lot with the Ukrainian hacker who started the project and the whole bananahackers community.
My primary phone is from 00s, running a proprietary ENEA OSE operating system, and I have no reason to change it. Though if I'll have to, I'll consider something KaiOS-based or Android-based with a keypad, like Nokia 800 Tough, Discovery A17 or Snopow M2. Ideally with a GNU/Linux port available, bananahackers are digging into this direction too.
