You can list any number of languages you have touched. But if you categorize them into few categories as 1.expert/highly skilled, 2. Medium/moderately skilled and 3. Novice/just learning since few months, it will make life of the interviewer easy.
I have gone through the same pain with BOA and finally I had to close my account last year. But the funny/upsetting thing is that even if I closed my account, BOA kept on sending monthly statement charging those monthly fees for several months.
I had to keep ignoring it till they completely stopped sending those statements. I went to the local BOA office to complain and the Banker did not give a damn at all. I have a feeling he thought that a tiny customer who just transacts few hundred dollars a month can not affect the bottom line of the bank and ultimately his job.
And during that time I kind of felt that sometimes the big bank can play a cruel joke and get away with it on tiny customer like us. You know what , I closed my account went ahead and opened my checking and saving account at a local credit union bank and I can't say how happy I am. Hey, it is your money. But watch out! some big banks are very good at ripping off small customers by charging in fees (nickel and dime, heck now a days they have started charging above 10 dollars forget about nickels and dime). As a small fish you are more vulnerable to big predators in the ocean. So beware. Keep eyes open.
Nope. A place has to be a right amalgamation of good universities (where the talent will come from), with good transportation and basic infrastructure and the last thing comes 'weather'. Yes with lot of cash and political will power it might possible to start as it is with Startup Chile(startupchile.org). But the long term viability of the ecosystem has to be proven yet.
If you have a Bachelor and Master in Comp. Sc. then you should first give it a shot by trying yourself before entering to Dev Bootcamp. There are several amazing ruby on rails guides and resources which I think you will have no problem to follow putting some time and effort into it. Heck I even can understand ROR up to some extent being from Biotech and Pharma background. First go to railstutorial.org. and try yourself. If you feel you are not motivated enough to pull it off yourself then consider applying for Dev Bootcamp.
Sublime 2 for programming and coda for web development.
I have recently started using Sublime 2 and like it. It is light weight with tons of features.You can use several plugins used in textmate as well as other text editors.
And Coda I use for real time web development (it synchronizes the file to server in real time and you see the result right away)
You could also use the money to buy your basic necessity expenses and deposit the money coming from your other sources to another account. I am sure you have some bills to pay (rent, food, groceries, laundry etc). Pay all these with that card and deposit the money that you are supposed to spend.
The banks are getting notorious for charging a "monthly fee" and it is going up. So try to look for a credit union near your place for opening an account and as soon as the money on this account vanishes just go ahead and close it. Unless you want to put more than 8k in the account to waive the monthly fees, I do not see a point to keep this account.

By the way, the idea is cool. But does your algorithms advanced enough to distinguish between items that can be bought (commercials) compared to those can't (human face, nature photographs etc to example a few)?
Is there a way to use the Google drive without installing the software onto my computer? My employer does not allow me to install any software to the office computer.
There are technological issue and then there are ethical issues. I can say we are several decades away from making a baby just by stitching raw genome data. There are 30,000 genes in human genome. Think the number of possible combinations that can arise only choosing few good genes are optimizing for a developing a tailor made human being. And the ethical challenge is huge too.
This is a great product. Being a biopharma guy I can say it has a lot of potential. My suggestions is to push this product aggressively to launch globally so that you will have a threshold number of users to survive the startup.
Couple of caveats:
1. When I type a product I have to click on search button to get the result. Can it be such a way that only clicking on enter tab should do the search?
2. When I deliberately misspel a drug name it just does not return anything. Does the search engine has auto suggestion method like google's?
Few questions:
1. What will be the revenue model? Will it be a SAAS?
2. Will there be a free version on the web? If yes then how will it be different from paid SAAS service?
3. Will it be limited to drug molecule and genes or it will extend to other categories in future such as scientific literatures and metabolic pathways?
If you are making $300k/yr then I can say you are providing some real value to the company otherwise it wouldn't pay that obscene amount of money to an employee.
I will take cjbprime's suggestions.
1. Do you have a specific plan carved out what to do once you leave your job? If not then take some time to plan while in the job and see if you can start something in your niche expertise. Find out that if you have sufficient networking in place to hire few good people from your industry.
2. Have you found any pain point to solve? And how and where to attack? If not, then you can spend next 6 months to do and even if your 8 hr job is soul sucking you still have 16 hrs of your life to make something challenging and fun.
I'm not that experienced but that's what I would do.
I have pre-ordered through Barnes & Noble. So far I haven not heard anything yet. I think it is going to be late for us. Really wanted the kindle format. But from Steve's blog I found out they are not releasing e-book in any near future. So I was forced to order paper edition.
I have been watching Mixergy for last two years as a non programmer and I can say it is worth watching. It has forced me to think what entrepreneurship is and motivated me to learn programming.
If you criticize then do it constructively. I mean show me a site/blog which has brought so many founders (both successful and unsuccessful) to their knee to spit out their real life experience and I will take your word.
And I am sure there are so many niches out there screaming to be exploited in other fields (biotech, pharma, commodities etc).
