google is scared of having a bad reputation just like any other company. they know they cannot blatantly have faith in themselves, that their place at the top now is a precipice. I for one am glad they haven't let the power go to their heads that badly cause man it would suck having to wait for a startup to replace google.
Okay, this is weird. I just upvoted a few of the comments here that mentioned being a bit more critical to this research, and something weird is going on. A few minutes later those posts were below their original karma value! The only thing common among the downvoted posts was that they were a little critical of the research. I would just hate to find out that a few TM people created new accounts to bias the comments here.
Just thought it was interesting, but who knows, I might just be getting a little paranoid.
Wow thank you for that suggestibility.org link. After reading the telegraph article I googled it, read a bit of the wikipedia page, and then read a few reviews on amazon about TM that said "great book, but the personal lessons are where it's really at." Pretty soon I was on the actual TM website.
To my knowledge I have never fallen so blatantly for something; I mean I almost checked out what their prices are. That is just plain embarrassing. I can't remember the last time I fell for something like that.
What can I say; as much as I hate some of the stupid stuff that's posted on ycombinator I think most people here are bit more scientific and logical than I fully appreciate.
