If you break up the presentation into sections:
- Hook with related humor (great song by Jonathan!!)
- Acknowledge the issue at hand briefly
- Show the positive side first, back up with hard data, show the bigger picture
- Trivialize the negative side, back up with hard data
- Ensure that people know that you take even trivial problems too seriously and act for your users
- Still uplevel the game and offer generous solutions to what you deemed were trivial problems
- Sandwich the problem with good news at the end again and promise a brighter future

The most important of it all is write a lot of code. Write it for a cause. Write more of newer, faster, cleaner, clever, smarter code. The more you write the better developer you will become.
Gmail concept won't work for plus as what is a social network without a network. If they have load issues they should start with influencers (like they did) and then keep letting them invite their friends. Then their friends can invite their friends and let it grow from the seed. It is wacky that my friends have to get an email update rather than experience the network with me.
