Stallman is an amazing programmer but the man is clearly out of touch with the real world. Remember, this is a man who publicly stated that the world was a better place upon hearing of the death of Steve Jobs. Software views aside, this shows some serious social maladjustment. This is also a guy who refuses to use a web browser because he is so paranoide about being tracked. He advises people to not own cellphone either. From his wikipedia - "Stallman recommends not owning a mobile phone, as he believes the tracking of cell phones creates harmful privacy issues. Also, Stallman avoids use of a key card to enter the building where his office is. Such a system would track doors entered and times. For personal reasons, he generally does not actively browse the web from his computer; rather, he uses wget and reads the fetched pages from his e-mail mailbox.."
I'm a Droid owner but no one can deny that no current Android device is as responsive as the first gen iPhone. I'd really like to know what the secret sauce is in ios.
CNC operator in a machine shop. Dangerious, long hours, hot or freezing, and tons of pressure. The worst job of my life. I would go into the bathroom and silently cry. Now I study CS and programming all day. You could say that I like what I do now more, haha.
I try to take in the subject in as many forms as possable. Watch a video, read a chapter from a book, read an article, listen to a podcast, and most importantly talk to people about the subject. Its not essential that they even understand it. Just talk their ear off. Also, get to know some contraversies associated with the subject. Argument clearify things even if both parties are wrong.
I am doing better. I began asking myself weather I wanted to be running my own company in two years or have read a ton of HN the last two years. Information addiction can be as bad as tv for me.
I'm not an environmentalist but the negligence displayed by the handling of this oil spill enrages and saddens me profoundly. I hope companies go bankrupt and people go to prison over this.
It always bugs me when people say stuff like this. Should you never say anything private in email or SMS? This position is untenable. The issue is that the institution is giving away your info not some ex girl friend.
Wow! This seems like a really good deal. Especially for someone who is already interested in purchasing a eBook device. You could spend your entire adult life studying everything in this list. This doesn't even include a consideration of the lifetime of free wireless connectivity to Wikipedia included with the device. The age of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy has arrived.
I second that friend! I thought these p2p sites made money from adds so whats the deal? Pirate Bay is like a diseased ghetto in comparison to Demonoid.
I changed the title from "Is Netflix site hacked right now?" to "Google supports false advertising?" to be more accurate. Let me know if you can think of a better description my scrupulous friend.
