I think not. The cognitive scientists are eager to point out that that people who are members of religious/spiritual groups are doing actually better in many indicators of a “good life”.
Today’s (normal)money system is complex and still many of it is not transparent to the public. Ethereum is trying to build something with more transparency but also tries to create a space in which people can experiment with funding. ( see quadratic voting experiments)
Is anyone reminded by this as kind of a smalltalk image?
I mean an environment that is self contained and can be modified?
I wished the authors would think of aspects like that: how to modify the system without restarting it or needing separate tools.
Sure it looks nice but in the end its a browser with some javascript libs glued together with sqllite or something?
Customization seems way to difficult , so the tool can do a bit of tiny things that seem nice for me but so many things that I don't need. The GUI seems very bloated for me.
Is this just me? Or are people generally happy with such GUIs?
It depends on what you are looking for. Your thinking works at least in a different way. You remember things by finding things that connect to the thing your looking for...
One could say their "Link map" enables such a thing but its not quite the same thing.
Personally I do really like the Zettelkasten Method which leans more towards a representation of thought in a written form. Ever wondered how the Zettelkasten "guy" Nikolas Luhman could be so productive(> 50 books) it was because of his Zettelkasten(Method).
So every time I find a new tool, at least for me I evaluate it through that lens: how much does it really help me to represent my thought process. And hiearchical notes are not enough for that, at least for me...
this is way to simplistic. "Blockchain" as "AI" or other sufficiently popular concepts are mere projects spaces of peoples hopes and fears.
A question now may be: can this "Blockchain" Idea give rise to technology which in turn helps people to coordinate better?
Its really interesting there projects who mandate for more transparency through blockchain and then there are projects who ride on "everything" should be private.
The answer to such problems very seldom lies in extremes but in the mediation between possible options.
Many Ethereum projects but also IPFS now finally offer tangebile (beta) products. In many traditional metrics they are lagg behind mainstream projects. But since decentralization over centralization and collaboration over competition are real values interesting things begin to emerge.
Now I could be counting to 3 until the next person jumps here on and (projects his values or antagonist dreams on this) says capitalism is it and socialism was the worst thing in history!!!111
But maybe a room can grow which is neither capitalism nor socialism but yet better. So lets start to ponder , some impossible thoughts - using this blockchain thing.
Building better technology - finding better ways to coordinate with people - in the real world. Through digital technology but not only limited to or by it.
A couple of things here: I do not think that there is a “right” set of resources. There may be a set of “right” resources for you personally but to explore or discover these you would have to explore your motivation and your personality further. Which learning styles do you favour? What are your long term goals?
Somehow I liked how Jordan Peterson put it in his - Maps of Meaning- lecture: university should help students to get articulate. If you think about that, your self and um your goals it should help you to move forward.
Other wise you are just looking for an instruction manual for life, which doesn’t exist as such.
The article as the comments here read very strange. Like a place where there is no place for people. There can be space (real physical as well as a culture) for people, lets give team human a try. Please let's not be working drones that optimize towards questionable goals...
Of course it’s good to „get by“ and live a life without „hassle“. But I think it’s becoming more and more clear that this is just not the case.
Most part of what we call civilisation, such as industry, sich as the IT industry is simply not sustainable. To survive the 21 century we have to look at better methods to collaborate.
And of course technology is part of the eqaation. Open Source and similar efforts lead the way towards such better methods. But they cannot exist in vacuum or on a island alone.
So we have to change society but by bit. Let’s go!
Imagine a Context where you could invest in space companies using crypto tokens and then users or other entities with technical expertise could vote on product development ...
I do really hope we see something like it in the next 5-10 years.
