Recently I have been relying on two good sources for leadership:
- Book: The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker: I think this is an excellent book to teach the part of the brain that wants to execute to think more strategically and concentrate on the leadership side.
- Podcast: Modern CTO: This podcast has lots of interviews CTO's from all kinds of companies. It's pretty casual and entertaining but also seems to always motivate me to be a better leader.
One thing to note is that the whole Chinese Android ecosystem currently works without those Google services or Play Store. It's still challenging to push system without Google globally, but at least they have experience with that locally in China.

Just what I need, even has the folder-index view that I need. Python SimpleHTTPServer has been getting stuck sometimes for me lately when used through Chrome. Maybe the way it loads resources in parallel changed or something.

A while ago I remember hearing in some podcast from googler that they internally have separate source code management system (not related to Google Code). I wouldn't be surprised it he was talking about this one and they finally decided to make it public. Killing Google Code was probably just because not many people used it (externally or internally).
Nokia Networks has been very separate venture from the better known Nokia-mobile. It was previously a joint venture between Nokia and Siemens known as NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks). In 2013 Nokia bought rest of the stock from Siemens and renamed it Nokia Networks.
I think it was never very optimal to share roms through megaupload, but it seemed to be the easiest option. I'm happy to see more rom devs starting to use the needrom.com. They have rom hosting as well as commenting/rating system, it's not perfect but at least they have lots of android roms available.
In Finland it isn't that easy to fire people one by one from permanent positions when it's not related to employee's performance. Company can offer good exit packages to ask people to leave (x months of salary), I believe this is what Nokia did at some point. In general it's normal to do big layoff rounds that involve proper announcements and negotiations between company and employee-representatives.
The video offers very interesting view on how he approaches the problem and proceeds to solve the problem. From scientific point of view it just seems like guesswork, but as video goes further it's clear he has a real methodology to it. I was also very impressed how he all the time seemed very objective and used words like "probably", "could" and "possibly" to communicate that his findings still need further review.

This may not hold true. A while ago I was looking into it and they seemed to use more complex weighed average without exact details (possibly using internal user scoring). It's surprisingly interesting seeing the astronauts working from first person view and hearing their communication. Reminds me a lot of the beginning scenes of Gravity, goes to show how well that movie was shot.
They mentioned they are now about 30 minutes into a 6 hour space walk.
I too enjoyed the nice storytelling and graphics. And knowing it's only about 10 pages helped to start following it. But being used to more information I felt like "Is that it" in the end. Could work better with linked in-depth article in the end.
