We use it for serving up static pages for aggregator/curatorial site HockeyBias. http://hockeybias.com.
As I mentioned, the site serves up static pages and it is very fast. During the hockey season these pages often change many times a day. We used .NET (which I am much more familiar with) to develop a custom browser that allows us to quickly access dozens of hockey-related web sites & youtube (with some help via Powershell). The custom browser has a 'Publish' button which spits out static html to my app engine site.
In its current incarnation I have to enter my appengine password about once a day. I am planning on implementing a better way to update the site using the new ProtoPRC api...
As a long-time .NET/Visual Studio developer, I was appalled and suprised by the XCode IDE. I am starting to develop on teh4 Mac and the amount of pain and violence one must endure in that environment helped me understand why some people say 'Apple hates developers'.
The whole thing didn't 'smell right to me' and when I read some time ago that it might have been a prank it became more obvious that this is where the stench emanated from...
I am truly surpised by the rigidness displayed regarding Word docs. Limiting opportunities in your life because an HR department uses the most common document app in the world seems self-defeating. Why not rule out cmapanies that use a certain type of printer paper?
