Fed's level of independence: Ever heard of Greenspan Put? Even much more so for Bernanke and Yellen.
You can't call FED indpendent. They are not about inflation. They are not about full employment. They have been all about keeping asset bubbles afloat since 1990s: from nasdaq, through housing, ending on treasuries. All "indpendent" FED creation.
And then obviously central bank is a failed idea. Market should determine price of credit. Not a bureaucrat. A bureaucrat setting the most important price in the economy - price of credit. As if he knew better from the market what the prices should be. The central banker will always set the price of credit wrong. Too low - bubble. Too high - burst. Let the market set prices. Especially the price of credit.
The point is there are other ways "to make it" except for VC founded c-corp and stable employment.
Huge majority of successful businesses in the US (and business owners) make it without VCs and their money.
I know of a guy who made millions by developing a sms-sending platform. No debt. No outside investment. That's the way really smart guys do it. Guys in the same category will take VC money because they know they own facebook or google. The rest are , well... dreamers...
not as cheap as some European ones. What he is missing is specialization in the US. If someone considers themselves "developer" in the US they won't spend 2 hours a day cooking. They think it is cheaper to spend money on someone else cooking for them and code for these 2 hours.
Paul Rand charged $100,000 for this logo design. About 20 years ago. Wouldn't you think that when charging this kind of money, you owe some kind of explanation of your thought process even if logo is self-explanatory ?
Stop objectifying women! They know what they are doing! They are not retarded. If they wanted go to tech, they would go to tech! Duuuuuhhhhh... who are you bitchez to tell them to go study CS, to do mammography, to go to work? Who are you? When was the last time you saw commercials telling men to have prostate checked, or go and study foreign languages? Not so keen to advise agents (men), huh? All about telling objects (women) what to do. Stop objectifying women feminist bitchez!!! THANKS!
This is the process I went throught back in 2005 to get a job in IT after graduating in Business in Poland:
1. Got a position with an Indian company that promised a job after paid training ($5k)
2. After 3-month long training they totally and completely faked my resume. I.e. included 5-years experience, fake credentials, fake references.
3. Got me a job with large, large bank.
4. Got half my salary for 6-months.
5. After that I was on my own as I couldnt stand lies anymore.
From my experience 90% + people from H-1B is on these terms in the US. We had trainees on our "camp" that literally haven't seen PC keybaord before. Ending up as IBM tools specialists in Fannie Mea, Freddie Mac, Capital One.
This much about H-1B. And this much about interview process int the US too. And actually about dumb Americans who can't get a job in that country too.
it is 10% talent and 90% hard work. Not the other way around.
I love coding Ruby. But all the design and front end work? From HTML5 to CSS. Forget it. But if I focused on "effortless" Rails coding only -- this would get me absolutely nowhere. Not to mention unix skills, administration, making customers happy, etc.
Sure, would be easier to work for a big corp and do Rails coding only. But then there are other hard or intolerable things there (intolerable to me!). Like bosses proud they can't code with BA's in Political Science. Or lazy coworkers. Or whatever else.
Life is hard and then you die. If you can find happiness in this sentence (and I can!), if you can still find sense in all of that and be happy somehow. That's happiness. Because sh*t always happens.
And all these rich young kids. They might have problems on their own too. They might have no social live. They might have had no childhood. They may have nobody candid to them to hang out with. They may be poor as far as their people relations go or as far as their free time goes. What's so awesome about working 24/7 and all the money when you have no time to enjoy it? This is being really poor. It's exactly like not being able to afford going to vacation because of lack of money. You can't go period. No money or no time, both make you poor. As lack of social live does.
no worries. Liberals have tendency to be lost every time you ask them about your Consitutiona Rights. At least you are not alone.
Do you think that we got 1st Amendment to talk about whether while drinking tea? No! We got them to ask hard questions. Like why blacks are 75% + od the prison population even though they are only 15% of the general population? `i won't get honest answer to this by anyone because you guys don't believe in human rights (right to free speech) and killed them.
Again, balance. Let me give you an extreme example to picture my way of thinking about it to you. Again, it is an extreme exaggaration.
We have 1938. The whole world is talking about Nazis. French, Russians, Brits, Argentinians. You name it. There will be a war, we have this maniac Hitler there, blah, blah, blah. Then - as a tourist I suppose let's say a tourist from France - you visit the US. No mention of Hitler in the US newspapers. It turns out that Americans give very little thought to Nazi Germany. Why? Because they are all horrified and talk all the time about this prison where criminals suspected of killing thousands of Americans are kept. Turns out they were tortured.
Here in Europe we have ISIS from the South. Putin from the East. It's not like China wastes their time too, especially when you look at their Navy and what it is doing on Vietnamese, and foremost Japanese territorial waters.
Fear not. Guantanamo. US Government is horrible. As bad as Russian Iranian, or Chinese. Without them we would have world peace. Jesus Christ just look at Guantanamo!!!
And then - being a tourist - you are obviously like: how this happened? Why they are like this? And you check their news outlets. Turns out they watch KGB-TV to get their news and trust it more than their Government.
When I see something like this, I'm like, dude you don't deserve democracy you have. You are too stupid for it. You will be a Jew proudly voting NSDAP. (sorry couldn't help myself)
I will omit other comments you made as I might agree on them or not really care that much.
Here is an important (to me!) point that you made:
>I'm not American, so I can't comment on that part. But in general, I agree with you, people need to be more outraged about everything in general. Whether it's something horrible in Russia, or mildly horrible in America, it should spark outrage/action.
You say people need to be more outraged. I say they need to look into things in a balanced way. If you watch Russia TV only and nothing else, there is a very good chance you will be outraged about a few dozen Guantanamo prisoners being tortured not even knowing at all that they media outlet trying to make you angry about it, is at the same time sponsored by organization (KGB, Russian Government) that took part in a genocide of over 1 milion people. If you listen just to Geobbels and never turn on BBC, you are outraged about wrong stuff (you said that), or your opinions are out of balance (that's what I would say).
The problem with people like you is that if we don't do anything inn Syria then you say people die. And if we do something you say because we did something people die.
Chechnya: if I'd need to compare to the US, it would be like the USA invading New Mexico and doing there a genocide to a tune of over 1 milion people (civilians).
The problem with statements like this is their total lack of balance.
What I mean is that because of Guantanamo you will have people like this going on the air at Russia TV claiming the US Government is a "criminal organization". Nevermind that you are hearing this from KGB sponsored Russia TV that will not discuss at any length things like genocide of over 1 milion chechens or murders ordered by Putin.
For me, it's a bit like someone in the 1930s going to a German Nazi sponsored radio saying how bad racism is in the USA while not thinking twice about anti-semitism of the Germany.
And then at the end of the day you really end up with people who think USA is horrible because of things like Guantanamo being totally prone to Russian propaganda. When Russia is so, so much worse.
The things aren't in perspective when you get rid of context.
