The program automatically installs the ASK.com toolbar, and I didn't see a check box to stop the process (though - to be fair - maybe that's because I use big fonts on my machine, and it was buried somewhere). Fortunately, I was saved by my anti-virus program, which gave me the chance to block its installation.
That wasn't so bad. What I absolutely hated is that the program, without asking, "stole" all video associations and renamed lots of registry entries (e.g. mpg File became KMPlayermpg file - or something like that).
And the uninstall was anything but clean on my WinXP machine. I spent almost an hour cleaning up the registry by hand.
My tests showed it to be a good player, but I can live without it. MPC and FFD show are fine for my needs, and they don't take over any associations. Even commercial products usually at least ask first.
I can't understand the arrogance or insecurity of programmers who think that having their program rename lots of registry entries is acceptable or makes their work look impressive.
I'd say - on the contrary - it makes them look unprofessional and untrustworthy.
I wouldn't use this program, no matter how well it functions.
