Tell HN: SearchYC.com should be given a link or search box on the HN homepage
It would save new readers a few days/weeks/months of typing site:news.ycombinator.com (or of helpless flailing around).

At the very least you could replace the link to "HNSearch" in the footer.

Doesn't really help new users though. And searchyc.com can do a lot more than Google search.
A poll might provide more useful results (how many people would want this vs. how many people would not)
I am new to this but always wondered about the non-existent search functionality? What is the rationale behind not having it? I can see that the news is archived because you can find it, then why not have a search on the news page itself?
