Hey folks, I’m building an online course about “Effectively Manage Team Cognitive Load” :star-struck:
I’m planning on launching the course later this year. As it is a work in progress, I need your feedback to fine-tune it. The survey is here: https://maven.com/forms/72c748. :raised_hands: If you answer, it will add you to the waiting list, and you will receive 25% off the course fee. :clipboard: Course quick glance At the heart of this course are the concepts of Team Topologies, namely Team Cognitive Load. This course has in mind managers, senior managers, and executives, but also agile coaches, software architects, or senior folks creating and maintaining software; I’m falling short on the roles, but if you are in a position to shape the organization structure, processes or software architecture, then this course is for you. This is the outline that I have in mind: - What is Team Cognitive Load, and what are the implications if you leave it unmanaged - How to identify the sources of cognitive load within teams and what are the implications of adopting new technology, such AI - What are the strategies to manage Team Cognitive Load, and how it changes over time - Develop action plans to start to address the Team Cognitive Load with your team and organization The outline will change, and that’s why I need your input. Imagine what problems the course could help you solve and what you would expect at the end of the course.
:books: Course structure The course is online and cohort-based. It includes a mix of live sessions, group reflections, and self-paced material. I’m thinking of having the course over 1 to 2 weeks, with one or two live sessions per week and Q&A sessions where we can address the challenges of your own context. As part of the cohort, you will receive templates and access to tools to help you manage Team Cognitive Load.
:spiral_calendar_pad: Course dates I plan to launch the course in Q3 this year. It looks far away, but I learned from my consultancy and training experience that six months fly by. Emoji fast: By answering the survey, you will be added to the waiting list and notified once it goes live. My idea is to run the session in the afternoons for European time zones, which in turn will be in the morning on the east coast of the Americas.
 Before I go, I want to publicly thank Matthew Skelton and Manuel Pais for gifting the book.

You can see them struggling when doing simple things because they have to stop and remember what context they are in, what dynamic value they need to attach to their keyboard shortcuts (turns out muscle memory can help with fixed values, but not with buffer names and task numbers) and so on.
They will tell you it's vastly superior.
But the colleague that I see actually managing to pull it off are rare. Most are just slower for the same given micro-tasks.
Add on top to that they may rock a dvorak layout and an exotic distro, and they burn out quickly. And then wonder why.
