Hopefully there are closed source solutions on Linux. Open source is a fine thing, but only when it works.

FFS, it seems like we need the EU again. Maybe a general law that all connectors must be accessible to third parties?
IDK, maybe we can all just move on to thunderbolt and be done with it.
I don't see any TVs adopting Thunderbolt any time soon. For computer monitors, we already have DisplayPort which is fully supported by amdgpu. That would be a more likely candidate to have on TVs than Thunderbolt.
