Reminded me of another super-coder: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabrice_Bellard
Didn't know that. That's a pretty impressive list of big software projects :)
The Spotify client is really good too. It's very fast, rarely crashes on me, and strikes a nice balance between features and simplicity.

Does anybody know the name of this game, please?!

It's Gobliiins: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gobliiins
Thanks. I loved it when I was a kid.
Kept adventure gaming alive? There have been plenty of great adventure games since 2001, but this article was mostly about life support...
(It's also always worth mentioning the continuing interactive fiction, the precursor for adventure games. http://pr-if.org/play/ is a good starting place.)

It appears as though the only significant piece of software written by this guy which I haven't used extensively is Spotify, and that's just because it isn't supported in South Africa yet.
