Ask HN: How did you meet your VC

Warm introductions are the key. Find a couple of target funds and see who they recently invested in. Try to reach out to the founders of those companies for advice / chat. Ask if they can give you an introduction to one of the funds and give them a forwardable blurb with your deck. Once you get a meeting with a well-respected firm, they will likely be willing to introduce you to other VC firms.
This is just my 2 cents based on working as contractor at a VC in San Francisco. Like most things, there's many other ways to get your foot in the door.

what are you doing as a contractor at a VC firm?
1) get friends who know people with a lot of money
2) have rich parents and go to ivy league college
3) ???
4) profit
For background:
- I built a software company before & did $1M in sales.
- Me and my small team want to pivot to a better product/market
- The new product (pivoting to) automatically edits every sales meeting into a highlight-reel video & sends that as follow-up, for a guaranteed demo-deal conversion rate lift
- From the North of England not a VC hotspot
I have bootstrapped the new company with the old but need to meet a VC to get all of the way there and I have no idea how to get pitch meetings.
So I am really curious how did you meet your VCs or how do you meet a VC in general?
