From wayyy back in the day (circa ~'99), something my friends and I built along the same lines: http://www.imood.com/ It had a shockingly passionate user-base and is still kicking along with a fair number of users. Originally all in kludgy CGI and perl!

Do you do any crazy reporting - like the average mood of a Monday compared to that of a Friday? I think that stuff could be really interesting, which is partly why we built moodbeat.

I can see potential for this for things like movie reviews...it would be interesting to see all the moods of people leaving the latest blockbuster film, for example.
What are your plans for integrating with mobile devices? I think alerts throughout the day would be cool so you could know who to stay away from :)

Yes! Triggered alerts would be perfect for my wife so I know what I'm coming home to (and if I need to by flowers)!

What architecture are you using? Looks like PHP and I'm assuming MySQL - anything else?
We rolled our own PHP framework which is using the Smarty template framework. The DB is MySQL. We're using a light wrapper around the native mysqli library. Pretty standard stuff right now until we get big!
