I have no experience with co-op’s other than my credit union (which is great), but it would seem that the time is ripe for co-op’s to add a “new” dimension to the economy: salary caps for managers and a broader share of profits among the owner-operators of the business. What’s not to like about that? Technology is surely available to make this possible. Can people resist the kind of greed that destroyed unionized labor to make co-op’s work for everyone’s benefit?
Hard to resist because it's baked into our DNA a bit, but in reality it's an illusion when you consider concept of the 1%. That said, if can be pulled off, which has been proven to be done countless times, the workers (maybe not founder) are generally better off financially.
It's exciting to see co-ops popping up in different sectors to provide a better service and greater financial reward/stability to the worker.
I'd love to see YC support CO-OPs!
