Because this “strain of thought” only disagrees with the government on non-issues. They align pretty well on the questions of property, rights, freedom, etc.
Posting a job req for a while (with no intentions on hiring anyone) and then claiming that they are not able to fulfill it with US workers (pretending none of the people they interviewed had the “special knowledge” needed for the position)
Because they are trying to discourage people from applying. Given their post history on whoishiring threads, I would confidently say they are just prepping to H1B someone.
As someone who migrated from a very conflictive area of Latin America, this is the answer, period. But the minute you mention this to the incumbents here in the US (specially to those claiming the need to “amplify” underrepresented voices) all of a sudden you will not be an ally anymore.
ever expanding spending for a site that, while big, probably has the same traffic patterns (for mostly static content while at that) year by year, and with no visible software improvements in the past few years (so they are not spending a fortune in developers) leads me to think that it’s just political money being channeled through them.
Car prices are normalized, this is the new price, and unless people stop buying them, that price is not going to change even if supply chain issues are fixed.
At my Bay Area employer you definitely need to be 14 days past your second shot (in the case of a 2 dose vaccine) to be considered. Wording on the internal emails about the topic makes it pretty clear that this status is subject to the changes by health authorities. So in this particular case I can assure you that the door for infinite boosters is not only open, but it has been clearly spell out that it will be used.
> I'm fully vaccinated but am not sold on getting a booster because I'm not in a high-risk group and understand the current science to indicate that the initial series I received continues to significantly reduce my risk of illness, hospitalization and death.
Well the problem is that this ship already sailed. You can be “not sold” on getting a booster all you want, but give it a few months and for employment/entertainment/etc venues you will be considered unvaccinated, period. This is what most “got vaccinated but not sure about passports” crowd don’t seem to understand, there is not gonna be a middle ground, you either have your nth (and go figure the value of n if they want to establish 1 or 2 a year…) booster or you might as well be Andrew Wakefield.
I don’t understand why there is such an outrage about this. I bet most of the HN crowd supports vaccine requirements to even buy groceries, always using the argument that is to protect everyone. Well the Chinese gov has determined that people being addicted to games is a threat to their society as a whole so they decided to restrict them. I’m sure you could even get some doctors to do publish some papers about how the games are really affecting these kids, that way you have the “Science” blessing.
