This gem from the ABC news coverage has my mind 100% boggled:

But sometimes not fast enough. IIRC, you can wait for a HPROCESS in Win32 with the WaitForSingleObject call but that is signaled when the application code finishes _not_ when the OS has finished it's clean up. So if the process you were waiting on was an application that would write, say, "a.txt" and you wanted to wait until that process was done so that you can read "a.txt", it is possible that you fail to open that file because the OS had not released the file resource.
Of course, I wouldn't put that clean up in an atexit.
Pre 9/11 I used to routinely fly a commercial route with no security screening process. There was once even an attempted hijacking and the (lack of) procedures remained. The grandparent is correct, everyone went insane after 9/11. And this wasn't even in the same hemisphere as the USA.
I couldn't give up induction now and I have used gas plenty. FWIW, my induction handles 4-11" and I had no pans that were not induction-compatible, but that might depend on where you live I guess.

Yeah, maybe if you have a huge wok burner? my induction boils water substantially quicker than any gas stove I have used.
There is no explicit call for caramalisation here. As the sibling post points out, that is not what you would normally do for Indian cuisine. I found it a bit amusing that the article leveled the accusation of lazy writing, with a pretty lazy example.
Made all the more amusing since the author is absolutely right and there are many, many good examples available to support their argument.
I don't think the Madhur Jaffrey recipe actually calls for caramelisation but I don't have the original in front of me. It would also use red onions and be done in a pan that is more like to a wok than to a western pan, iirc.
All my walls are solid concrete. I recently had the house cabled up because the powerline stuff dropped multiple times a day for 5 minutes at a time. It was infuriating.
The cabling runs through the ceiling and dropped down to port height via electrical conduit on the external side of the wall. It was expensive but I would have paid more considering the quality of life improvement.
Not sure about the machine linked in the article, but sometimes the operating system might prevent you from marking heap allocated pages as executable.
However, in that case you are only prevented from using the JIT compiler and should still be able to take advantage of the high-speed interpreter included.
If you are in the LA area you can take a docent guided tour of the Mount Wilson facilities, including the solar observatory mentioned in the article and the dome where Hubble observed.
For someone interested space and astronomy, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The view from the San Gabriels into the LA basin is also a marvel.
I was in Grand Teton a few months ago. It has 110 private inholdings[1] and our guide talked a length about them. You drive by a few of them on the road north of Jackson Hole. Just the drive-by made me think that these must be some of the most desirable properties in the US.
There were also interesting stories regarding the formation of the park [2]. An interesting story, for sure, but it also helps illuminate why there are inholdings in the park in the first place.

I got a chuckle out of that. Reciprocity indeed! Apart from the military and charity service question, it sounds like a copy paste of the US' own DS160 form. It does seem to be missing my favorite questions from the DS160 though: 1) are you a terrorist and 2) have you committed genocide?
