I love creating nice and useful things for the Internet people.
At the moment I feel most comfortable in working on Vue.js-powered Single Page Applications. Don't get it wrong though, I totally believe in can-do mindset and learning other frameworks shouldn't be a huge problem - in the end it's just a tool (that said I also know basics of React.js). My current free-time focus is oriented towards HTML5 game development (and I would love to learn more if possible about it, but it's not a must-have!).
My current contract lasts until the end of this year (so that I am available since January 2024).

Putting aside opinion about FE vs BE difficulty - I had similar problem (but while working with Vue.js framework which is irrelevant anyway as you probably can use similar solution to any stack you need) and I've solved it via using something called DOM recycle, you can find an example here: https://github.com/topics/dom-recycle
I do really enjoyed this kin-of-post-mortem! Please write more, I'd love to hear about your other projects!
As a side note: In my opinion the closest replacement for Flash is currently Construct 3 engine - you should definitely take a look on it! (I'm not associated with Construct 3 team (Scirra) by any means - I'm just a happy user of their product)
Maybe not habits, but I've managed to get back to trampoline/airtrack acrobatics which is an result of couple years of getting back into shape and general condition.
I've also started drinkin way more water (earlier I was drinking coffee only and diet Coke)
Also related: Linux Subsystem for Windows works in similar manner (at least for me!) - I've switched couple years ago from Linux -> OSX -> Linux -> WSL (when WSL was in 1.x version at the time and lacking from couple features) and gosh, I've never looked back since then
(disclaimer: I'm a front-end developer (and making games in my spare time using various tools) and for my needs I've never found a serious complain about how WSL works)
I feel totally the same! Even though I don't have particularly bad experiences from school I do really prefer my current stage of life, where I work and learn about things that I'm really interested in.

yeah I was raised in similar manner, but as a father of 2 right now I see - in my personal case - the biggest difference that makes me afraid about my kids:
I don't know around half of my closest neighbours
It's not that I don't want to get to know them, it's that everyone are so busy (me included) that I don't simply have time to align with them to learn more about them better.
Also, tons of people are moving in and moving out all the time.
It wasn't the case in my home village - I knew a lot of people and even more people (my parent friends that I didn't know) knew who I was. I could bet at that time that if something bad was going on for me, there would be someone who will help me without any struggle.
In my current place is different. Even my relatives who stayed in my home town can agree that even there a lot of people are moving in and out and they don't know all of the townspeople anymore.
I've just switched from Surface Book 2 to Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3402ZA)
Pros:
- beautiful, bright display with 16:10 aspect ratio
- comfortable keyboard with backlight
- pretty decent battery life for my programming needs
- port selection (1 x USB 3.2 (2 Gen), 2x Thunderbolt 4, HDMI and audio jack)
- good performance
- beautiful design
Cons:
- if you try to run some games on it (it has Iris Xe Graphic card) - it will become hot very quickly
I've choose Zenbook, because I had one in the past (UX32LN model) - and it still holds up pretty well and works flawlessly while being used for office stuff by my wife (it will have 7 years now)
I was never stressed out in terms of English language (I'm from Poland) because I've rarely (never) switched game languages to any other language than English.
When I was ~10 years old I've played through whole Final Fantasy 8 which I was obsessed at the time thanks to my older brother with a PAPER dictionary on the desk (I was translating stuff that I didn't understand) and I think that was the most effective way and time when I've learned most of the English language in my life.
Now I'm trying to encourage slowly my kids and I switch game languages they play from time to time.
Oh gosh, that made me soo nostalgic - I did such mono .sh file to boost my system setup couple years ago as elementaryOS at the time was not supporting updates and I had to do a clean install when new release was published: https://github.com/mrmnmly/linux-installation-script/blob/ma...
