This is strange - I wasn't expecting such a difference on CPU-only benchmarks. In my experience as a software engineer I find Linux much faster than windows mainly due to the file system being more performant (e.g. the builds run noticeably faster). For CPU-intensive tasks I always thought they were quite similar.
On the other hand since upgrading from 6.6 to 6.11 I noticed a great improvement in UI responsiveness on my old X1 Tablet and I doubt this Ubuntu uses a recent kernel even.

You should try that when things are going well, not after purchasing power has collapsed 10s of percents over <5 years and 80% of <35yo s cannot afford to buy a flat.

when line 21 is 175 characters long. also, the fact that anything other than InnoDB is barely real ACID. also, the stuck development and lack of support for json, uuid and many other things.
mysql being user-friendly (and especially beginner-friendly) is a massive hoax.
Wow. So much effort in reinventing the wheel. The transaction approach is obviously not suited for integration testing as commits/rollbacks are part of the package too.

This is a very shallow opinion. I, personally, avoid electron-js apps like the plague. Having 500 MB of RAM wasted by something as trivial as MS Teams or Insomnia is horrendous.
ElectronJS apps tend to be not only inefficient but also much less reliable and poorly designed.

You tell me. My biggest pain with XFCE is multi-monitor support. Like having the menu bar also on the second display and not have two of them when you switch back to single-monitor.

MacOS X, Windows and the mainstream Linux DEs have nice animations, but it is fun watching them the first day. After that it is just annoying.

Not really, I had mine replaced at revolt.bg for about 60 EUR, both labour and spares. Miraculously, they had both of them on stock, so it was a Thurday to Wednesday job. Massive respect to those guys.
They used to be. I am writing this from the above-mentioned T480. It is 3 years old, has both usb-c ports replaced, small crack on the backside of the screen and the keyboard zif is broken, so the tape cable is... well taped to the connector.
On the other hand my X200, T420, T450 are still in mint condition. To be completely fair, modern macs are also way off from well-built. Shiny yes, but sturdy is the last thing I'd call them.
BTW, in older ThinkPads, the drain-pipes under the keyboards actually worked - you could pour water on it just for kicks. Now it is there only for decoration.
I am using xfce with a minimal set of services and all the system apps and most others open instantly. Alt+tab is also always instant. It is an MS, Apple, Gnome/KDE problem, not modern computers one.
