OpenWRT is amazing. Other than the usual security stuff one of the most overlooked use cases was scheduling other devices. Router is always on and with eatherwake it can orchestrate turning on other networked devices. I also run rtl sdr to capture local weather reports.
OpenWRT is used as base for a surprising amount of edge devices.
Cheating may not have helped but it was doomed to start with.
I did the math for my local city and to have full coverage you needed 5 nodes there were thousands.
Also the main customer: utilities companies would risk getting rates of transfer hiked. While startup cost would be around 500-600 to keep the control.
It is not that people do not realize it is just not something you can do overnight.
But once independent security system gets put in... I am sure there will be much less oral appeasement.
I had a couple of projects that failed.
I still think I could have increased my odds of succeeding by putting in more effort but at that point I was too drained to even try.
I remember showing research paper to one of decision makers and them saying 'I do not believe this' without even looking at it. I knew then that I was done. That did not have enough energy to try to enter a new market and build a new business model.
We built an Android app long time ago.
When GDPR came in we did not need to do any code work because we respected our users data upfront. Only thing we needed to do is add a link to policy.
And people are still using it. Crashes do happen but it's rare.
So it's frustrating to get proded to update it.
What about non markdown alternatives.
I colab with people who will not use markdown. Notion is ok... But I would like tools with some real knowledge management not just the basics
I have received a few 'love letters' from lawyers and a few company CEOs.
It is scary but first few times but don't forget it will cost them money to take you to court. So ask yourself: Will it cost them more money to sue you than they will save?
In this case will it would cost them stupid amount of money to swat down every person like you.
P.S. I looked at using them but 'loved' totally transparent demo.
Most people already called out most of the problems but number one for me is time to access.
Paying to have it ready now/on your schedule and not having to spend time scheduling or getting.
Is it less financially efficient? No.
Is it worth reconsidering depending on your financial health? Yes.
Is it universal? No.
Does the article can be interpreted in way it suggest it's universal? Yes.
VCs will often meet with startups to get market analysis done for them.
Maybe it's not the primary motivation of a meeting but information has to be presented to make the case for the business, so it gets recorded and used anyway. It can be used to look for alternative investment targets.
Pitches have inherent risks to them, that have to be taken into consideration.
Also I get that Amazon has much more resources but if they there able to copy it after one meeting... Was your project really that valuable? And would not be copied then you launched?
This is probably just leakage to due to mismanagement. Russian government may prioritize well being of population but nuclear accident would drop land price economy would suffer and people who have power would suffer from, so I hope self-interest and The lesson of all lessons make me hopeful that the rain outside my window not radioactive (in Lithuania not Russia but still in the path)
Had the same or very similar issue .
My domain registrar dropped all name server settings on an 'update'/whois update requirmet change
Luckily I had an old export of DNS records so most were there but not all the settings were retained like DNS only or full proxy.
Those were not mission critical, so not that bad but I bet some emails went to the void because there was no real warning from both my domain registration service provider and cf so I found it very 'upsetting' (I was pissed on them both)
"Think of the children" often covers a lazy powergrab.
Now is full transparency bad or the role of privacy itself that is not a online comment battle conversation but this is just lazy.
If you live in country where emergency services number is not 911 there is sometimes a forward from 911 to the local number like 112 or phone may detect the local emergency services number.
Problem is that not all countries have location detection for emergency calls.
I was in medical trial that had the same...
I just did not drink a day before they took my blood. Also I am pretty sure toxicology test was not performed.
It also required me to not have kids. It made sense but still sounds extreame.
It's before you will die so... Yes it's a clickbate for anybody who is not a lawyer and did not already knew that. But hey it's entertainment news that are not tragedy porn... Yes NY resolution was to be more positive...
If every business in an ecosystem takes that kind of stance it becomes true.
As in if the whole ecosystem pays an significantly proportional wage result is an economy that outgrows costs because fact people's work create more and more value is generated.
And also it's good showmanship. I bet at the time word of mouth was even more significant sales route. And you have literally a factory full of people. Now tell me if you know a guy working on it will you not ask him? So keeping him happy meant a customer who doubled as promoter. In my mind Ford just cut some marketing branch and rerouted the workload to factory workers and payed for it.
It does not mean it BS if it can drive sales. The two don't have to be mutuality exclusive. I wish more people would not forget it
I live in country that would not be in NATO or maybe even egzist without his unconditional principals and restless dedication to them.
I respect this man
