It is a marketing piece, but i do think it's hitting on a real need. I'm a web app developer by trade, but dabble in embedded stuff, and i always feel like I'm going back in time 15 years when making that switch. Compared to the state of modern web dev, embedded programming is down right archaic
Well considering this has most likely an English origin, it would make sense that someone one of suitably distant but recognizable heritage would be chosen. The English and French has a long history of rivalry so there might have been a joke in there.
Mine would be qualified service to society. 2 years of public service, with no option to bypass. Service being tailored for your particular skills and abilities.

Dude still compared to Europe even with clunkers like the Balkans thrown in, it's still pretty far down the list on many many metrics. No where in Europe do kids regularly get killed in schools, or live under the threat of homelessness.
