Aren't you in any way concerned that you can't give a real example of the sort of thing you're talking about, and have to make one up? This should be the wake-up call that makes you re-evaluate your priors.
The reality is that reactionaries often describe "useless" scientific endeavors like "condoms for worms" that end up being the only thing stopping parasitic screwworms from infesting the US cattle herd, which will end up costing us hundreds of millions of dollars to resolve- and spike the already-high cost of beef for decades.
I'm impressed at how precise the construction of each numeral is for something that must have been done by hand, covertly, without much equipment- probably at night. By my estimate each numeral is at least 100' wide and 140' tall.
Probably but even the fact that they're rehearsing time-filling stories is a more human trait than the pre-recorded months in advance videos that are usually shown today.
I remember one where there were technical issues so Steve just started telling stories about the old days with Woz... impossible to imagine that from ANY tech company today
They knew what they were making and went exactly hard enough to sustain 8 episodes without feeling rushed or dragging.
It’s one of the few shows that reaches a satisfying conclusion, ties up the loose ends, the hero rides off into the sunset, and it just ends. There’s no setting up a season 2 that never got made.
There was a really great, really underrated show on Peacock a few years ago called Mrs. Davis. The titular Mrs. Davis was an all-encompassing AI assistant that had taken over all of the governments of the world. Everyone wore a Whispering Earring-style earbud with a voice that guided them through their lives and made every decision for them. (Betty Gilpin plays a nun who's simultaneously rebelling against the AI and searching for the Holy Grail on its behalf.)
In the show the AI had originally started as (spoiler, but not really) the customer support bot for Buffalo Wild Wings. I don't know what to do with this.
