I have a coworker who is obsessed by LLMs and keeps reiterating that he is super productive with them.
Yet I have to still see the first delivery or codebase by that same person. (I am not his manager)
I lean in the LLM skeptic camp, I know they're great for some things (never to outsource your thinking, what unfortunately a lot of people do), but I'd like to see some studies. Because there are a lot of net negatives in the business press, or max up to 10% improvement.
* What/how are you handling the different customer protection laws? What juristictions are you working in? Where's the data hosted?
* Where's the design description?
* What encryption are you actually using? If you rolled your own, then well.. good luck.
* How could you ensure end-to-end encryption over multiple protocols, without either completely reverse engineering said protocols? If your answer here would be that you're using a central server where messages get passed between services (and thus decrypted), it isn't end-to-end.
The site is also very flaky. Sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn't.
There are so many questions, and zero answers.
This week, packages from repo.saltproject.io will be migrated to packages.broadcom.com. This means a variety of disruptive changes are being implemented around installing, upgrading, and pinning/locking Salt.
Apple has a contract with their developers that probably prohibits just rolling back to an old version. As long as the app works, does not violate the AppStore terms and is intended as per the developer, who is Apple to say what they do with it?
I'm not saying that this is should not be handled, but .. I don't see many good outcomes here.
Every time I switch off my bluetooth Plantronics headset Apple music starts. Why? Because Apple.
Another clear sign Apple doesn't really care about it's users, it really cares about the bottom line, and getting people to sign up for their services.
I've experienced many of these things on a regular basis, on my work supplied MB Pro (M1 and Intel)
* multiscreen: I use my macbook, a widescreen, and a 24" in portrait mode. Window management /sucks/ on mac. It either doesn't remember where apps go (even just between sleep), it loses track of them, and the fact that you can just partly drag a window onto a separate screen can cause it to "vanish" until you finally figure out it's that tiny edge
* full screen - you fullscreen one app, and macos decides that the other two monitors should go black. eh, no?
* MST. Please. For fcks sake.
Plugging in two distinct monitors at the same time made my Intel macs (plural) freak out. Screen 1 would activate, screen two, one would go off, two would blink, etc.
* I don't want the dock to move all around. So I disabled that. But then, the menubar is also stuck on just the main screen.... WHY!?
* non-existant window-management. Rectangle solves a lot, but really?
I've got more gripes with this thing... probably mostly to do because I want to use accessories which aren't blessed by Apple. Like my Poly Voyager 2 headset. Every time I switch that thing on or off, apple music starts up. Why? Because Apple. Nowhere to switch that off, so I'm using the NoTunez app to immediately kill Apple Music again if it starts.
The constant mixed use of home-end-pageup-pagedown (most apps it acts properly - you know, like every other os handles it, and some apple specific apps suddenly end is "end of document" instead of the end of the line.
The list goes on. I guess if you're deeply embedded in the apple ecosystem with their gear, it works, but once you go outside of that, it's .. shite.
