As an anti-AI booster, I admit that I'm quite insecure, too. And angry. But man, these endless threads with folks endlessly hyping their productivity gains and haranguing others for going against the grain are just blatantly pathological. I feel like I'm an in an episode of Pluribus.
I’m sure that the people making this kind of argument would be quite pissed indeed if I trained an LLM on their proprietary code and used it for my commercial projects.
Personally, I'm overjoyed to see the internet stratify and the chuds depart for whatever libertarian/accelerationist pastures they're looking for. I just want to chat with human beings about human endeavors. If that shrinks my social network by several orders of magnitude — even better. Much easier to catch up.
And the other side is convinced that there’s nothing truly special and mysterious about humans, which feels inherently disturbing. Like, these people would swap their brains with a computer in a hot second if they thought it would make them do X a little better. Shudder.
Some laws are very obviously unworthy of consideration, with broad consensus from the public. See what happened when Napster came out. Literally no one cares about some red-faced RIAA suit flicking spittle over some shared Metallica albums.

Not OP, but copyright law is an absolute joke. No, I don’t care one whit that someone’s TOS was violated. In fact, I find it hilarious. And it’s not “theft.”
No conspiracy, just someone who loathes white supremacy with every fiber of my being. And yes, this is exactly the core platform of any Western party pushing for ethnic cleansing and “remigration.” (Deportation of anyone considered not Swedish/British/etc. enough even if they’re squeaky clean and integrated into local culture.)
