Hmm funny to see Hetzner mentioned - I tried to rent a dedicated server from them and placed the order and gave payment details, about 6 hours later I got an email that they have decided to deactivate my account and cancel all products and orders because of "some concerns". Email support can't give me any reason because the info was anonymized and couldn't give me any information on how to avoid having my account randomly deleted besides don't break tos.
It seems to just not work in Firefox for me, it's the same for me on FF Android but in Chrome it's beautiful! Constant text size while zooming and it's super smooth.
Edit: It also weirdly doesn't work on Chrome on Linux for me either, only Chrome on android. Oh well, hopefully they can bring support everywhere eventually.

Imo hiding that the funds were used even in a legitimate case makes it improper. If it was intended to be paid as a salary then they should have disclosed that $x were paid out as a salary. As I understand it, the only reason we know that the funds left the project was because one of the founders revealed the use of funds by the other founders, not through a planned, transparent, or regular process. In other words, the revelation that funds were being used seemed to be an anomaly as opposed to a regular practice.
The original open letter states essentially as much: "It's fine for developers to be reimbursed for their hard work, but it should be done in a fair, transparent and accountable way."

Did such a change not already happen with the addition of Kayak affiliate links without any community consultation? It seems to me that there has already been enough to justify a fork.
Not to mention, there was a promise of electing and changing boardmembers which has never happened, and hiding the use of OrganicMaps project donations for personal vacations as alleged by the initial open letter.
Not some of the effects heavy custom beatsaber maps. Also vivify hasn't been ported to quest beatsaber afaik so they're still missing out on all the crazy new maps with custom unity assets and environments.
Also check out briefsky. Like merrysky it supports the pirate weather API but it's open source / self hostable (at least I don't see any link to merrysky's source) and it supports several other weather APIs as well. I found switching it to the tomorrow.io API was much more accurate for beach weather.
I've been using briefsky which is similar to merrysky but open source. Both use pirate weather which is a recreation of the dark sky API. It's not as accurate (and I sometimes also switch briefsky to the tomorrow.io API) but it gives me that familiar UI and fills the role well enough for now.
Revolt's UI looks super nice, I just wish it was connected to Matrix on the backend so I could use it with all the communities I participate in on matrix.
I hope they add that ability, I'm pretty fed up with onlyoffice and nextcloud office (collabora) frequently breaking and having terribly buggy/laggy UIs.
I used to use magnetico and wanted to make something that would use crawled info hashes to fetch the metadata and retrieve the file listing, then search a folder for any matching files. You'd probably want to pre-hash everything in the folder and cache the hashes.
I hope bitmagnet gets that ability, it would be super cool
At least now you can solve the existing spam problem if you want by disallowing people from using your number to message you in the privacy settings and randomizing your username after anyone new adds you - that way your username is like a one time password to add you, kind of like what lots of people here wish existed for phone calls.
For their fiber gigabit pro (2+1 gigabit symmetric service) they lease you something like a juniper acx2100, so presumably something similar with an SFP+ port would be used for higher speed fiber plans.
Granted that's just a handoff so I'm pretty sure you're just on your own when it comes to picking something that can route at 10G. I just went with a decisio opnsense appliance and called it a day.
I had gigabit pro for a few years, they gave me a half off promo that made it worth it at $150/mo, which is not much more than the close to $100 after miscellaneous fees that the regular gigabit down 35Meg up HFC cable plan costs, not to mention the fiber reliability is so much better - no brief outages and I even had Comcast business proactively reach out to replace gear when their monitoring noticed the fiber switch starting to fail.
I think they also discounted the install and activation to be $500 total.
I split it among around 8 housemates which included the upstairs unit of our house, so it ended up being very affordable and there was always extra bandwidth to go around. The main benefit I enjoyed being greater than 35Mbit upload speed.
I have needed to resort to using reddit to sell some homelab stuff lately and I was pleased to find that the revanced manager patcher has adblock patches for the official reddit app (as well as twitter, which is nice for the occasional visit), not to mention patches for various 3rd party apps that allow you to substitute api keys
They seem to mean exactly what you quoted - a lower risk tolerance means they tolerate less risk, meaning they are more cautious. Doing an avoidance maneuver if the risk exceeds 1/100K instead of 1/10K is being more cautious because 1/100K is a lower threshold than 1/10K.
I also use nextcloud, but I've been planning on trying out immich. I used to use google photos and the migration to nextcloud left a lot to be desired. There doesn't seem to be a way to "free up space" the same way google photos could automatically delete already backed-up photos, so i have to do that manually periodically. But crucially the scrolling / thumbnail performance of the nextcloud photos timeline is terrible even with an SSD cache in my synology as well as running NC previously on an overpowered rack mount server, of course using redis with NC and all the usual optimization tips. Thumbnails take a few seconds to load making it near impossible to track down photos from more than 6 months ago.
The thing that stood out to me about immich was how when I first saw a show-off post on /r/selfhosted, it included a video showing how instant the thumbnails loaded as well as some background on how they were focusing on optimizing the scrolling performance and ensuring blurred thumbnails would be available asap when scrolling. I was impressed at how it stacked up to the experience of using google photos.
