I tried building a real app with AI. It took a week or two.
The problem lies in convincing other people to use it. So far I am the only user.
And, this is not a new experience. I have a utility to change the gamma ramp in a GPU, for windows, that still works in Windows 98, XP, 10, and 11, even Linux and X Window with Wine, and so far I am the only user.
I wrote it because I had an old CRT that was too dark and unusable with the default gamma.
So now everyone can do these one-user apps. Welcome to my world :)
It would be very hard to find current examples of companies doing that harmful excessive focus on the long term. Only Valve comes to mind and they are anything but bankrupt.
Quarter profits maximization will create those loops of doing and undoing the same thing.
If you check the successful companies (Apple, etc.) their activities are mostly year cycles.
The usual very short term corporate thinking that maximizes quarter profits while bankrupting the company in the long term.
IMO a very shortsighted decision, if not downright stupid.

Now this is surely rose tinted glasses, probably based on nostalgia. It had horrific performance all around. Even the now obsolete Opera browser Kestrel runtime had better JS performance, and it is obsolete because Chrome crushed it in benchmarks consistently for several years.
No, there's no way Flash had the performance characteristics you mention, even less in a critical component like the garbage collector.
"Accountability" is a value on paper, not in reality.

It seems I have spotted a pattern here.
In undergraduate math it doesn't matter if someone else did prove a result a hundred years before you.
You still need to write your own proof and deeply understand it.
Maybe in the most advanced PhD math it can have some impact, but these proofs are becoming intractable by humans alone.
It is a very obvious thing in UNIX world.
This should not happen, no matter if it's Cursor or VIM or whatever program you are using.
So, yes, it is a serious issue, and it's more of a Windows fuckup than Cursor itself. It's basic OS behaviour that's been fixed in UNIX for decades.
You want to run a program in the current folder, you write ./program, everyone know this.
Isn't this the oldest kind of vulnerabilities corrected on UNIX several decades ago?
The current directory is not in the PATH, period.
This is also a bug on Windows only, so to me this is more a Windows issue than a Cursor issue, unless there's some logic in Windows that is doing the same as UNIX has done for decades. Given the "fix" involves ACL and a complex workaround that's not really a fix, I stay in my position this is more a Windows fuckup than something particular to Cursor.
I just don't use stranger's machines to access my personal stuff. Possibly compromised stranger's machines.
I don't see the benefit about that, as I have more laptops than I need.
