No? It's obvious the meaning is that most meteorites will never be found because they're tiny and no one witnesses where they land. If it hits a house you know where it landed.
This is widely true if you look at popular support for issues that politicians refuse to implement or even address. That said, the trick is getting most people to actually recognize and admit that. As soon as some people sense you're "on the other team", their brain shuts down and they refuse to acknowledge any common ground with you. Not everyone, of course, but more than enough that it has led to the extreme political polarization we see today.
I don't play those, but I know at least with games like those, where players like to play on specific versions, there's usually ways to stay on a specific version without too much hassle.
Yep, this 100%. When I see a "pending update" notification or icon somewhere, the first thing I think is "I don't want to update, they're just going to break something new". I _hate_ updates now. Doesn't matter what software it is, with the small exception of video games. (Except Dead By Daylight. Behavior, the devs, are the most hilariously incompetent devs on the planet, but at least their incompetence is confined to their own game.)
I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir on this site, but just in case anyone needs to be told: Don't ever let anyone tell you everything is fine because "See? They fire people that abuse the system. It's all okay!". For every one they fire, there's 10 or 100 more that aren't. Surveillance like this is not okay. Police always abuse their power. End of story.
Did they really call it that? I guess Tesla cars really are ASS in more ways than one!
To make my comment more substantive than simple snark, I have never in my life gotten even remotely motion sick from anything. Boats, cars, carnival rides, you name it, until I rode in a Tesla. That was the first and only time I've ever started feeling motion sick. It's an incredibly poorly designed and manufactured car if it rides so badly it can do that to me.
IIRC, Framework did ask AMD to explore a more repairable approach with socketable CPU and RAM for these chips and they did but came back and said it wouldn't perform well enough that way.
And what if I do care about quality? As the consumer, I do not even have that choice to make 99% of the time. This is very much a false equivalency and it isn't even close.
Companies get to choose what products or product qualities to make. If I, a consumer, want or need a product, I can only choose between what is made available to me by the companies.
It certainly doesn't help that it's nearly impossible to tell what is or isn't a quality product before or even after you buy it. What am I supposed to do when I buy a new power tool? Rip it apart and inspect all the parts to determine if it's "quality"? How am I supposed to tell if it even is "quality"? I'm not a manufacturing or engineering expert. Even when you think you're buying quality, it's not most of the time. Companies sell shit products at premium prices all the time because almost no one can tell the difference.
I don't remember whether it was this or "sunshine", but game streaming from your own PC hasn't been the same since it was simply "turn on the Nvidia feature". It was way too difficult to figure out how to make it work the last time I tried and I gave up and haven't tried again since. For all the good they do otherwise, FOSS devs just never seem to get usability right.
Oh gee, _now_ the developers who always insisted unions would hamper their ability to earn top wages because they're such special uniquely talented little developers suddenly want... protections that a union would provide?
It's too bad not enough people know about using adguard dns on their phones. Dunno about iPhones but it works wonders on Android. Only downside is it sometimes interferes with signing into public wifi networks.
This guy is 100% on the mark. Amazon is all about throwing the guy next to you under the bus to get ahead. They will chew you up and spit you out. NEVER work there!
If you had a different offer, I'd say consider it, but Amazon is VERY likely to leave you high and dry within 12 months. Never ever trust that company unless you are completely willing and able to land on your feet when they unceremoniously kick you to the curb tomorrow for no good reason other than some manager needed a scapegoat to make his numbers look good.
Do yourself a favor, stay out of the current mess of a market, stay away from Amazon, and take some extra time to learn more and become more employable.
Also, never trust Reddit. It's like 50% bots and trolls and 50% idiots who have no idea what they're talking about whatsoever but like to make themselves feel like they're smart by saying whatever dumb unfounded idea comes to their head. It's just as bad or worse than Twitter. Would you take advice from random people on Twitter?
Yeah, Wikipedia is famously hostile to new contributors. It's a wonder they still continue existing and also have the gall the beg for donations. Imagine if reddit begged for donations?
I don't even really think about wikis as a set of interlinked documents moreso just as a repository of information. In the context of games whose communities created wikis, at least. Usually the discoverability of and interlinking of documents in said community wikis is pretty piss-poor though.
Most people don't have a choice for what ISP they use. And even when they do it's usually "do what to live in the modern world or deliver your packets via the Pony Express?".
