it works well, but some of the user experience is as bad as every streaming service for me.
i browse categories, have to click 'load more' a ton of times to see everything, and if i dare enter a category, and then go back to category list, all the times i clicked 'load more' is undone and i'm back to the initial view.
same if i search for a category, when i return from viewing a category, the search term i gave is gone.
i get that searching and favorites is the optimal way but sometimes you need to browse to know what to search for.
i also dislike having to hover over something to see the full title. having to hover over all the results instead of being able to see the full titles and at a glance find what i wanted to find ...
if i make the window bigger, it helps a bit but some longer titles are still cut off.
besides these gripes, i actually like it. search results are pretty much instantaneous and the whole app doesn't feel slow as some others i've tried in the past.
should i make a github issue for my issues or is that a waste of time?
> You could set her back 8 iOS versions and she probably wouldn't notice. Because she uses none of the hundreds of features released since. Not because she dislikes them, she doesn't know they even exist.
there's no manual to read. apple does not inform you in any way. finding out new features is by word of mouth.
so annoying.
i should not have to discover features on my very expensive phone by random chance via watching a tiktok video!
curious how that works out. you start dating, stop doing the hobby you're not really interested in, but she continues, and finds out you were only in it to find a date?
sometimes you just want to quickly look at ffprobe's natural output but the file have a lot of metadata or subtitles or whatever, and the stuff you want to look at is printed up on top, so the natural way is to pipe it to less or a file.
but no, you have to mess with stderr because the programs natural output without using the flags is an error apparently.
while rate limited i could still view tweets that was sent to my phone via the notification feature. i have it turned on for a few users, so these weren't tweets sent at me.
now i'm just waiting for Huffman to do something similar on reddit. he could get rid of some of those moderators he dislikes by charging to be a moderator. also, to access to nsfw subreddits.
Yes, americans gets screwed over with the CBSSN matches, as it requires a cable account. To top it off, the replays of CBSSN matches take up to 48 hours to appear, while CBS matches up to 24 hours, and P+ much shorter.
The twitch deal ended last season, but americans only had to deal with one twitch channel, which aired the twitch exclusive matches. The other twitch channels were exclusively for international viewers, and they had to have multiple channels due to matches being on at the same time.
With the twitch deal over, international viewers can watch on NWSL's own website again, like we did years ago, before the ESPN and later twitch deals.
When it comes to international sports, the whole "where to watch" is so painful, especially women's sport, as it's covered less, and most broadcast deals are in the local country, and very rarely international coverage at all.
The brits have done a great job with FA Player, but also in selling the international rights to broadcast companies. Their lawyers though... the rights contracts are so shitty. To take England/FA WSL as an example, Viaplay bought the rights, and they air the matches that receive proper tv production in England (2-3 matches per round), but they also force FA to geoblock the other matches, so we can't watch them live on FA Player, only on demand 24 hours later.
They even geoblock short clips on twitter. Utterly bizarre, as these international broadcasters aren't posting similar clips.
the critical mass might have to do without power-users (sucks for all the subreddits people go to for technical help!) and moderators, as the api changes affect tools and apps mods use a lot.
as for implosion, it might be more of a twitter thing, slowly people will get enough and leave. sometimes you don't need a new destination, but you just stop by the site anymore.
fyi, yt-dlp has some workarounds for this that youtube-dl doesn't.
youtube-dl is more or less unmaintained these days (last proper release: december 2021), yt-dlp is the main fork. lots of development happened here in the last few years.

you can also skip the match filters by running the /videos URL instead of the main channel url.
if you want 720p, use -S res:720
