Same thing happened to me when buying a graphics card from a computer parts website. Klarna was so well integrated into the UI of the checkout process that I didn't even notice I was giving my details to them.
Only afterwards I noticed on my bank statement. I sent them a gdpr request to delete my data.
Congrats on taking that decision. I bet it felt empowering.
I'm very tempted to do the same, tomorrow morning possibly. I only stuck out my job for so long because it was fully remote before the pandemic and that was hard to find.
Now actually feels like a good time to switch with so many companies forced into remote working and stating they will stick with it.

I started my first programming job at 28. Before that I did computer repairs and support. Starting that job was the first time I experienced still thinking about work, outside of work.
In a lot of jobs, your thoughts are free to wonder and you can think about whatever you feel like, whilst also working. Not so in software development, to do a good job your thoughts must only be about the task in hand and those thoughts can persist long after the task is over.

How do you get started deciphering the object data from an unknown format stored as binary? I've tried to extract data from ps1 games but have no idea where to begin.
It is possible to keep the data inside of a seperate class.
I have an app where I needed to observe a few properties of a class but wanted to keep it completely standard js so it could be used outside of a Vue app. I created an object in Vue's data and referenced some of the class properties, it works fine and changes are reactive in both directions.
How would you get started reverse engineering an old PS1 game? Say you wanted to try and extract the model data or textures and the disc contains only 3 or 4 files, what's the starting point?
I would do as others have suggested, hand your notice in now and start looking for your next thing. Maybe try contracting for a while? No need to explain this short stint at all then.
I'm in a similair situation right now myself but almost a year into it. The job description and job title absolutely does not match up with the reality, no leadership / direction and I really struggle with motivation. I have mentioned this but it still continues.
I think the only thing left for me to do is quit, the only problem with that is I have a nice remote deal that would be hard to match. Feeling kind of stuck. I might try contracting myself.
Lots of advice to raise your prices, which I agree with, but just be careful if quoting for a dream project or something in an industry you want to move into.

Heard nothing back from the client for weeks now when discussions were previously going well. I feel like they have taken offence at my quote or something.
I am a bit of specialist in the particular area so pretty sure they won't find someone else to do it for less, which was part of the reason for my slightly higher quote.
Any advice on how to follow up in a situation like that?
I found commuting on a train was really good for this. I would purposefully never look at my phone and just stare out of the window. I really miss that time now that I work from home.
