I see a lot of biased posts on Hacker news regarding Bitcoin. How it will replace fiat, how it will revolutionize banking, how it will continue to go up in price.
The fact is that the technology powering Bitcoin is not great. There are better alternatives to Bitcoin, transactions still take a long time to finish on Bitcoin. And the alternatives themselves need to be refined too.
There are also still a lot of scam coins in play, I personally know a few founders (no relation and no business doing work with them), where they admitted to me their coin was a scam in them getting rich.
So I’m skeptical, very very skeptical. These “friends” got rich off poor chaps looking to make a quick buck. I am almost envious, then I remember that the feds or IRS or some other institution will come after then at some point.
One of them is paying off their current user base because they got hacked.
Lol this costs more than a Xbox Series X or PS5 for comparison and with Xbox Game Pass you’re at same value as AirPods Max but with hours and hours of entertainment. This isn’t worth $550 probably $200-$300 around AirPods Pro price.
A lot of it is tied to the dog and pony show that is pre-med. You have 90% of the class interested in going to Medical/Dental school. So most students are NOT interested in the WHY but the How can I get an A.
Ok legit question, is Biden’s mental health an issue? (i.e. Dementia, Alzheimer’s). Surprised my family brings this up, and I’m not sure how to reply back to them..
So the kids grow up seeing their parents as just associates. Sounds healthy, what a great way to show your kids how intimacy, empathy, and a normal romantic relationship works.
This is for an internal app, makes sense that it worked out well for them because the internal app is mostly a greenfield project. Some resume padding and performance review check offs for those associated with the project, however this Kotlin Multiplatform is NOT stable enough for most large scale applications.
For starters good luck turning on / off features, handling UI state, and tying in the business logic to that state. And good luck mangling dependencies and build times with a new added Kotlin dependency :-)
“I have no mouth and I must scream” basically but black hole edition.
Wonder if it’s possible for some type of unique intelligence to live inside a black hole.
There are lots of particles rushing towards the singularity and if there are “holes” small enough in the black where these particles spaghettify maybe some some electrical activity might organize together into some kind of intelligence (for brief moments).
I.e. conscious “beings” spontaneously appearing and disintegrating in and out of existence at these extreme gravitational levels.
This looks like the perfect example of I have a hammer so everything looks like a nail. Not needed, unnecessary, and most likely expensive (meaning will bloat up my server costs) :-)
As someone who’s been writing both iOS and Android apps for almost a decade now. This made me chuckle, the sheer absurdity of Android being the standard when Google can’t even ensure mass adoption for their latest releases is just too ironic.
I mean you can say that for any language. If someone has to learn C or Java, you still need to learn how those languages work, build domain expertise and so on.
Swift is a very nice general purpose language and I’ve been writing code decades in almost most mainstream languages. I much prefer writing Swift code, in face some of my back end projects have been written in 100% swift, this allowed me to reuse models and APIs with the iOS and MacOS counterparts.
People are forgetting that the original Zenimax Studios is not exactly the most pro-gaming group of shareholders. Their original motivations were to increase shareholder value (I imagine that Fallout 76 decision was a factor among this).
I think Microsoft’s gaming vision aligns well with Bethesda’s and they probably have a better vision compared to Zenimax board of directors.
I would say still thinking too narrowly, some interesting science fictions novels had knowledge as a form of currency in some technocratic societies (The Omar ~> Deus Ex Invisible War)
Not saying this is the best solution but again different form of “currency / money.”
Imagine you are a human who is part of a hive mind, (think Deus Ex Helios AI) you wouldn’t have a need for money.
