Sad. I remember first meeting Om in NYC, just as he was getting ready to move to the Bay Area and before his blogging career took off. As a side gig, he was one of the originators of the South Asian social scene (desiparty.com). Spoke with him briefly and just remember him being nice and friendly. RIP Om!
Seems like a subset of enthusiasts - early stage VC types, people working in product, people who write lengthy healthcare posts on LinkedIn, have been trying to position it as another HLTH, but that’s not what it is. It’s an investor conference that you need to be invited to. Wouldn’t be surprising if JPM somehow had taken a stake or done a deal with your company, combined with some government insiders.
The digital health community, however, has used it to start off the new year with a bang. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
The NYTimes states that there was an advisory on the switches but that the FAA had not deemed them unsafe. It also states that on this plane the switches were changed in 2023.
Sad to see a care organization like this shut down.

From the outset, looks like a pediatric clinic that accepts insurance (and has a cash pay option) - but this is how most pediatric clinics/urgent care that are not venture backed operate. There doesn’t seem to be a disruption in their revenue model (like a one medical style subscription service), and vbc doesn’t apply much to pediatric care.
Not criticisms, just trying to understand what the goal was.

Although not non existent, I’ve found this to be less of an issue with the Surface laptops and look forward to trying the Surface CoPilot PCs.
Have never had that much of an issue with Windows 11. I think Recall could be a useful feature once implemented.
On non surface laptops, I still don’t understand why PC manufacturers are so beholden to McAfee?
If they're true to the demo, the new Surface devices look impressive, with the Surface Pro clearly pushing in the direction that most have wanted the iPad Pro to go for some time.
Microsoft has clearly been baking AI into their laptops and the updated Windows 11. Will be interesting to see what Apple has up their sleeves next month.

This is true. The ads are unnecessary. I don’t understand the stranglehold mcafee has on pc manufacturers. And constantly trying to shove me to edge is annoying, even though I don’t find edge to be too bad as a browser.
what is hostile about Windows 11? I'd agree its not the best on non MSFT devices (McAfee anyone?) but on the Surface devices i've found it to run fairly well.
It's not as polished as MacOS, but given I mostly operate in the world of web browsers and Office 365, with a couple of Windows based desktop apps, it gets the job done rather well. Would expect major update of Windows 11 later this year, leading into Windows 12.
I know it can be turned off, but personally I find myself to be able to focus and get more work done without having imessages on my laptop. I can see how some people might feel otherwise though.
Microsoft is updating it's Surface hardware with ARM chips in a couple of weeks. This would include the Surface Pro 10, which is otherwise excellent save for poor ergonomics if actually laying down and using it on your lap. If they could fix this, it would serve the population looking for a hybrid tablet/laptop device well. (it will also have an oled screen in this upcoming update).
Yes, its Windows, but I much prefer the file manager in Windows to Mac, and definitely over ipadOS. They will also be announcing AI related updates in 2 weeks, and I get the feeling MSFT has leapfrogged apple by a year or two on this count.

Congestion pricing will fund the MTA to improve on its system. The 2nd avenue line is quite nice.
I raise a family in NYC and have watched some of the authors prior videos.
He’s correct in pointing out the issues with the mental health crisis, which results in mentally ill people roaming the streets and subway. Taking our kids on the subway, it’s not something you’d engage with on a regular basis, but it’s there.
On the other hand, we are happy with our kids schools and enjoy our social engagements in the city, dining out, etc.
the preK bit sucks, they need to do a better job there (although I know many parents with kids in preK programs) and the migrant situation definitely needs to be better addressed.
I guess it comes down to how much pain you are willing to withstand.
