Not a criticism of the article / documents but an observation that aligns with others comments. For new users it is probably not going to be an issue to select a different window manager / desktop experience.

No requirement to manually setup X or Wayland, as the scripts / install will take care of it for you. I also understand that this is not 100% in the ethos of using Arch (where you should really understand all the packages going into your system and how all the configuration is done).

They are used to get users mentally prepared to be hit with a blade....being hit with a blunt metal blade hurts, but its ultimately better than being hit by a sharp steel one and gets you used to the mentality that you will be hit so how do you make it so it is less painful (or life threatening when you do get hit for real)
Just to clarify, the money has already been deposited to a holding account awaiting this ruling. So Apple will not be paying over any money, they will not be getting the money refunded to them.
1) They basically said "we expect you to change your employment terms, hours of work and duration of work etc. Do you accept?" without communicating what would it entail, if there would be additional payments for extra work etc.
2) If the contract is not renegotiated it defaults to the previously agreed contract. One party cannot solely renegotiate it, as with any contract there must be 2 parties in agreement.
3) They gave 24 hours to respond or you automatically "resigned". This is a forced resignation, for it to be lawful it would need to have been tendered / given by the employee. It was also stated by the court that 24 hours notice is not enough time for any reasonable person to digest the information and give an informed response.
4) 3 days later he received an email stating they accepted his resignation but they would not engage with him or his legal advisors in those 3 days or after November 19th.
The original ruling was that Ireland did not give state aid to Apple, that any multinational could have applied the same rules. This was not accepted by the Commission, they asked for a higher court to rule.
After several years it has now been suggested that the higher court puts aside its judgement and that it goes back to the lower court, because apparently (according to the Advocate General) the lower court did not take into account several factors and had errors in its judgement (relating to Intellectual property rights, where tax should be paid e.g. in the country of sales or in the country of registration). Which seems to make it once again an issue on tax and not on sweetheart deals.
The governments stance is that any company could have applied the same tax rules if they wished, so it was not state aid. As a side note, the "irish double sandwich" rules have changed since this

Just a clarification. If they were in the role for less than 2 years there is no legal reason to provide a redundancy package (statutory redundancy). The fact that employees are getting a payment even if they were there less than 2 years should show that Stripe are not "clawing back" contributions but that the refund is due to a stadard mechanism within the pension scheme.
Correct, most pensions in Ireland (these days) are defined contribution. Even within the civil service / government roles it is becoming extremely rare to see defined benefit schemes.
Its not a claw back per-se. Under the Irish pensions laws an employee does not have the right to retain the employers contributions to a pension if they leave the position with the company within the first 2 years of contributions to the pension (does not mean 2 years of service. If you have a 6 month probation for example, the employer will not contribute for that time. The period is 2 years from the first employers contribution). Any employee contribution is fully retained by the employee. In this case, because they are being made redundant, the employers share of the pension is refunded (through no fault of the employee).
The change specifies that all new builds have the capability to connect to Gigabit broadband but does not mean that all new builds will have access to these speeds (just because the houses have the capability it does not mandate the service providers will have to deliver these speeds).
Why, are you implying American companies will only operate in Europe if they can break the law??? They sent an email, she didn't respond and they stated that because she didn't respond she automatically made herself redundant....In Ireland you cannot default to "you mad yourself redundant because you didn't reply", there was no agreement to change her terms and conditions (redundancy in Ireland is a legal agreement, if its not voluntary than they could not fill the same role, even with a different title, with someone else for several years).
Im a dev that moved to devops and use a VM for dev work (or spin up a machine in Cloud). All code is in repos stored on Github, Gitlab etc. I also have a repo that contains scripts that will build the VM using Packer & SaltStack, and a text file (that is stored on usb's) to say how to add packer and any other base tools needed for the VM (saltstack scripts can be used a the cloud machine)
He didnt have permission up until recently. He had said that to submit a request for planning he needed more detailed diagrams (more detailed than the "napkin" diagram he showed previously). He argued that by building some of the tunnel it allowed him to add the detail for the thickness of the concrete, depth of the tunnel etc that were design decisions he made while actually building it.
I live in Ireland and I can agree with some of the information / points the article raises. There has been a large increase in the number of data-centres in Ireland over a short period of time, and the electric supply has not expanded as quickly (in fact there has been issues in the recent past where there were several generators shut down for maintenance and there was a risk to supply, nothing to do with requirement from data-centres)....therefore there is an issue with supply vs demand.
The article states that there has been a massive increase in the demands for electricity from data-centres in the last 6 years, but fails to identify the growth in IT as a whole with that period. Another fact that also seems to be missed (intentionally or not) is that due to restrictions over the last 2 years, as a consequence of COVID, the majority of businesses in Ireland were forced to move to a "working from home" methodology instead of having everyone in the office (the offices are only now beginning to transition back to having people in the office space). As a result all these companies suddenly had a requirement for Zoom / Microsoft Teams etc to facilitate workers being remote but to also function as close as possible to "business as usual". These demands meant that in the last 2 years alone there has been a massive requirement for additional data-centres and IT infrastructure. In my mind there has been issues with supply for a prolonged period, with parts of the delivery infrastructure not being fit for purpose / requiring upgrade, these issues have just been exacerbated by the rapid incline of TECH in Ireland over a short period.
Caveat: At the time of adding this comment there are 2 points for "12 Programming Languages" and 3 for "Data Science Starter", so they are the preferred options at present.
For the 12 languages if you are looking to create some revenue from this it could be seen as direct competition to "7 languages in 7 weeks" (https://pragprog.com/titles/btlang/seven-languages-in-seven-...). So you may need to expand on what your book would provide that extends / adds to the work done in this previous book (other than comparing 12 languages instead of 7).
This is a "normal" external keyboard, there are numerous different types / sizes of external keyboard.
The stand allows using the external keyboard in the same physical location / orientation as the one built in to the laptop (making it easier / healthier for someone with RSI instead of using a smaller laptop keyboard or creating strain because the external keyboard is in a different location / orientation to the "standard" keyboard)
The definition of PII can be a bit grey, some have deemed that IP addresses of the service provider, although not identifiable to a specific customer, can also be seen as PII as they can all people to be identified within a small group of users (where the IP does not resolve to a specific user). Even companies within the EU are being told that they need to be cautious how and when they collect data, and how it needs to be stored in a secure way.
