We did this boat tour over Labor Day. 100% highly recommended. Our guide was a fount of fun and interesting knowledge, guiding us through the history of the river.
That's a shame because Rick has some fantastic videos, especially his "What Makes This Song Great" series. He's showcasing some amazingly talented musicians and their work, which probably leads to some music sales. BS indeed!
That was my very first thought as well. I'm wanting to build a display that can show the status of various things - garage door, temperature, air quality, etc. Ideally it could run on battery too so I could mount it anywhere. Just need to find the time and motivation to do it, among all the other priorities & interests.
I tried using Takeout but the exported file structure and various metadata files were almost incomprehensible. This is likely partly my fault because I didn't download the full 100+ zip files, but I suspect there would be so many files scattered in too many directories to be much use.
Huh. My wife is actually having the same procedure done for the second time after Christmas. Naturally the doctor is in-network, but his surgical facility (on the same floor, immediately adjacent to the doctor's offices) isn't. So it's fork out $1500 and fight insurance to reimburse us after the fact.
In her case, the epidural really does give her life back by completely killing the pressure and migraines that otherwise plague her daily. Insurance can kiss my butt. Single payer would be fabulous in this case.
While being only slightly sarcastic, maybe it's time to put a sign on the door "If you're not covered by health plan XXX, please do not come in this room." That we have to even joke about such things is beyond ridiculous.
Be careful with the mint, but you already know that. I have a bunch of CA poppies in my yard, which I only discovered by letting everything grow after we bought the house. Imagine my surprise and delight when the "wild carrots" turned out to be beautiful poppies! They continue to spread and make the yard a wonderful place in the spring.
Or you could go into the "blue collar" trades like plumbing, electrical work, etc. After you get some experience, the trades can be a very lucrative line of work. Albeit you have to sweat and get your hands dirty. Mike Rowe has a few very persuasive thoughts on the subject as well, and can do it much more eloquently than I can.
There was an article I read recently about this fight where Khosla said he's now continuing the legal battle simply on principle. He doesn't actually care (that much) about public access any more.
20Mb speeds are on the low end, and has no future upgrade path (speedwise). My cable modem allows up to 200-300 Mb service, and DOCSIS is improving with every new version.
I have a suggestion which would make it very useful for me: hints on when to plant. Since you have the timing for "peak season" and (I assume) the growing times to get there, hopefully it would be easy to work backwards to arrive at planting times.
As a new gardener in Southern California, I could use some help planning my planting schedule. I can get away with planting a lot of things whenever I feel like it, but sticking with the ideal times would help optimize my yields.
I had a heart attack a couple years ago. The initial bill was $225k. Thankfully, I have good insurance (thanks $job!) so my portion ended up being only ~$2000. The numbers get insane very, very quickly. In my case, I was only in the hospital 3 nights so those numbers could easily have been even bigger.
Based on the types of common injuries for the line workers, this is a good thing for their health in the long run. From the article, repetitive stress injuries are the norm, not the exception.
Two Christmases ago I had a 100% blockage of the LAD for about 45 minutes - the time it took to get me from my house to the cardiac unit. It's called the Widow Maker for a reason. I was extremely lucky in that the pain was acute enough we called 911 immediately, and both the firehouse and hospital were very close by. I was 41 and in excellent health. No drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.
If you're feeling chest pain, please don't mess around. Get checked immediately. Better to feel silly than miss a heart attack and die!
