Nah, we're just tired of being forcefed American values. It's ridiculous you can incite hatred on Facebook, but it's too prude to allow nipples.
Come to our market, play by our rules. If you don't want to follow our laws, get out, but don't blame us.
It's not that they're impossible to follow, Americans just don't want to, but that's on them, we're sick of their cultural imperialism.

This is not about nipples, it’s about the next pandemic, can’t have all that wrong-think that doesn’t agree with the ‘scientific’ consensus decreed by the government!
For you, it might be about some conspiracy theory, but for me (and many of my fellow Europeans), it definitely is about American hypocrisy and their insistence that their values are universal.
We're different peoples with different attitudes and different things we hold dear. We're tired of being told that the things y'all care about matter while the things we care about don't.

Welcome to the conversation that some of us have been having since this was proposed. Yes. It is more or less a tax on USA companies.
Nobody is meant to comply or be able to.

Sounds similar to tarifs USA threw onto EU companies under Trump.
Sounds like an elegant solution - tax American companies, fund the Union and protect rights of citizens and local economy.
A big win for EU while following an established playbook that US has been using for awhile.

I thought that the EU stance on human rights would allow people to communicate in ways that other people might find “harmful”. But it seems like the EU is getting increasingly totalitarian.
