I liked the article. But like most "models", it's an approximation of reality. In most large companies I know, these are not distinct phases. All of these stages and "revolutions" are usually in full swing in a messy parallelized fashion. Sometimes occur in pockets of the company, and spread from there like wildfire. Sometimes they die where they began.
