I thought about that as well. At the moment, CarPlay can't take over every function so carmakers still have to make their own. But in the long term, there is an opportunity for Apple to make the whole thing and monetize it as a cost-saver to carmakers
To be fair, the test is pretty biased as they only tested use cases that are bound to be better as physical controls. It would have been more interesting if they had includes cases like selecting a route on Google Maps or navigating an app like Spotify.
Yes exactly, Italian design studios peaked in the '60s. So there is still some really cool stuff in the '80s but starting from the '90s car companies start relying more on their in-house design teams and less on external design studios
